INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Luke 1:39-56
Mary set out
and traveled to the hill country in haste
to a town of Judah,
where she entered the house of Zechariah
and greeted Elizabeth.
When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting,
the infant leaped in her womb,
and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit,
cried out in a loud voice and said,
“Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb.
And how does this happen to me,
that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears,
the infant in my womb leaped for joy.
Blessed are you who believed
that what was spoken to you by the Lord
would be fulfilled.”
And Mary said:
“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me
and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him
in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm,
and has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he has remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children forever.”
Mary remained with her about three months
and then returned to her home.

GOING DEEPER
Mary’s Yes, Our Destiny
Today the Church celebrates Mary taken body and soul into Heaven—not as a distant exception, but as a sign of our own ultimate calling. The Assumption proclaims that salvation is not just about our souls escaping earth, but about the redemption of the whole person—body and soul—in the glory of God.
In Luke’s account, the Visitation bursts with joy and recognition. The Greek word for “leaped” (skirtan) is used in Scripture for the exuberant dance of worship. Even before His birth, Jesus brings the Holy Spirit to John, sanctifying him in Elizabeth’s womb. Mary’s Magnificat then reveals her heart: wholly God-centered, rejoicing in His mercy, trusting His justice.
Mary is the first disciple, the perfect model of what it means to believe God’s Word and let it take flesh in us. She does not keep the gift to herself—she “sets out in haste” to serve. This is the pattern of Christian life: receive Christ, rejoice in Christ, reveal Christ.
In our homes, Mary’s Assumption invites us to raise our eyes beyond passing concerns and remember our end: eternal communion with God in resurrected glory. Parents—teach your children not just to “be good,” but to live as heirs of Heaven. Pray over them as Mary intercedes for us, that they may say yes to God in the little and the great. The Catechism tells us: “The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin is a singular participation in her Son’s Resurrection and an anticipation of the resurrection of other Christians” (CCC 966). That’s our story too—if we follow her Son.
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
Heaven-Focused: How often do you think about your destiny in Heaven—and how does it shape your choices today?
Magnificat Life: In what ways can you make Mary’s song of praise your own prayer this week?
Haste in Service: What’s one act of love or service you can do “in haste” today for someone in need?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around, invite each person to share one thing they are most looking forward to in Heaven. Then pray aloud over each by name:
“Lord Jesus, through the prayers of Mary, draw [name] to You every day until they see You face to face. Keep their heart set on Heaven and their life rooted in Your will. Let our home be a sign of the joy of Your Kingdom.”
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
