You do not need to carry the weight of your life alone. I am your Lord, and I will faithfully lead you.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Mark 12:35-37
As Jesus was teaching in the temple area he said,
“How do the scribes claim that the Christ is the son of David?
David himself, inspired by the Holy Spirit, said:
The Lord said to my lord,
‘Sit at my right hand
until I place your enemies under your feet.’
David himself calls him ‘lord’;
so how is he his son?”
The great crowd heard this with delight.
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
The greatest transformation occurs when Jesus moves from being admired to being Lord.
Is Jesus merely important in your life, or is He truly Lord of your life?
The crowds loved listening to Jesus, but He continually invited them beyond curiosity and admiration toward a deeper response. In today’s Gospel, He poses a question that reveals the heart of His identity. If the Messiah is merely David’s son, why does David call Him “Lord”? Jesus is gently leading His listeners to discover that the Christ is far more than a teacher, prophet, or political deliverer. He is God Himself who has come to save His people.
The scribes knew the Scriptures well, yet knowledge alone is never enough. It is possible to know many things about Jesus without ever fully surrendering to Him. The question facing the crowd is the same one facing us: Is Jesus simply someone we admire, or is He the One to whom we entrust our lives?
The title “Lord” carries enormous significance. To acknowledge someone as lord is to recognize rightful authority. Many of us are comfortable asking Jesus for guidance, blessings, protection, or comfort. Yet we often hesitate when His Lordship touches our priorities, relationships, habits, finances, wounds, or plans. The areas we struggle to surrender often reveal where we still desire to remain in control.
The irony is that control never delivers what it promises. We exhaust ourselves trying to manage every outcome, solve every problem, and secure every future. Yet the soul was never designed to carry that burden. One of the great freedoms of discipleship is discovering that we have a Lord—and it is not us. Surrender is not weakness; it is the doorway to peace.
Today’s memorial offers a powerful example. Saint Boniface left the security of his homeland to bring the Gospel to people who had never heard it. His courage came from knowing who truly ruled his life. Because Christ was Lord, Boniface could face uncertainty, opposition, and even martyrdom with confidence. He belonged completely to Jesus.
The great crowd heard Jesus with delight, but delight alone does not transform a life. The Lord still asks each of us to move beyond admiration into surrender. Build saint-forming homes by placing Christ intentionally at the center of family life. Pray over your spouse and children by name. Call daily upon the Holy Spirit. Let your home become a place where every decision, every relationship, and every hope proclaims one beautiful truth: Jesus Christ is Lord.
“To believe in Jesus Christ and in the One who sent him for our salvation is necessary for obtaining that salvation.” (CCC 161)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: What area of my life am I still trying to control rather than entrust to Christ?
In My Home: What practical step would help our family place Jesus more intentionally at the center of daily life?
In My World: How can I more visibly witness to Christ’s Lordship through my actions this week?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around, share one area of life where it can be difficult to trust God completely.
Then pray over each person by name. Ask Jesus to reign more deeply in every area of their life. Pray that they know His love, reject every lie of the Enemy, receive courage to trust Him more fully, and grow in joyful confidence that He is leading them toward all that is good.
Daily Challenge: Begin and end the day by slowly praying: “Jesus, I trust You. Be Lord of every part of my life.”
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
