GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
Love Me with your whole life, and My love will overflow through you to the world.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Mark 12:28–34
One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked him,
“Which is the first of all the commandments?”
Jesus replied,
“The first is this:
Hear, O Israel!
The Lord our God is Lord alone!
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul,
with all your mind,
and with all your strength.
The second is this:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
There is no other commandment greater than these.”
The scribe said to him,
“Well said, teacher.
You are right in saying,
He is One and there is no other than he.
And to love him with all your heart,
with all your understanding,
with all your strength,
and to love your neighbor as yourself
is worth more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
And when Jesus saw that he answered with understanding,
he said to him,
“You are not far from the Kingdom of God.”
And no one dared to ask him any more questions.
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
The whole Christian life can be measured by one question: do we truly love God, and in Him, others, with everything we are?
What is the deepest love shaping your life right now?
The scribe who approaches Jesus is not trying to trap Him. Unlike many of the debates in the temple courts, this moment carries sincerity. The question he asks had occupied Jewish teachers for generations: among the hundreds of commandments in the Law, which is the greatest?
Jesus answers by quoting the Shema, the central prayer of Israel from Deuteronomy 6: “Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is Lord alone!” Faith begins not with rules but with relationship—with the recognition that God alone is the center of reality.
Then comes the command that flows from that truth: love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.
In Hebrew thought, the “heart” is not merely emotion; it is the center of decision and desire. The “soul” refers to life itself. The “mind” points to understanding and intention. The “strength” includes our physical energy and daily effort. In other words, Jesus is describing a love that embraces the entire person.
Nothing compartmentalized. Nothing held back.
And immediately He adds the second commandment: love your neighbor as yourself. These two commands are inseparable. Love of God cannot remain abstract; it must become visible in the way we treat other people.
The scribe understands. He recognizes that genuine love of God is worth more than any external religious performance. Burnt offerings and sacrifices were part of Israel’s worship, but without love they became hollow gestures.
Jesus responds with a striking affirmation: “You are not far from the Kingdom of God.”
Not far—but not yet fully there.
Understanding the truth is not the same as living it. The Kingdom comes fully alive when love moves from theory into action.
The domestic church is where this commandment is practiced most concretely. Loving God with everything we are becomes visible in how we speak to our spouse, how patiently we guide our children, how we forgive, how we pray, how we give ourselves in daily sacrifice.
Children learn the meaning of the greatest commandment not from explanations alone but from watching love lived out in ordinary moments.
Build saint-forming homes by making love of God the center of your family’s life, pray over your spouse and children in the powerful name of Jesus that their hearts grow in wholehearted love for the Father, and let every act of patience, service, and mercy within your home become a living expression of the greatest commandment.
“To love is to will the good of another… Love is the fundamental and innate vocation of every human being.” (CCC 1766)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: What currently receives the greatest share of my attention, energy, and love?
In My Home: How does our family intentionally place love of God at the center of daily life?
In My World: Who is one person God may be asking me to love more intentionally today?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around, share one way each person experiences God’s love in their life.
Then gently place your hand on each member of your family and pray over them by name—asking Jesus to fill their hearts with a deep love for God and a generous love for others, and asking the Holy Spirit to strengthen them to live that love courageously every day.
Daily Challenge: Perform one intentional act of love today that costs you something—time, patience, attention, or sacrifice.
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10.
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
