INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | John 7:1–2, 10, 25–30
Jesus moved about within Galilee;
he did not wish to travel in Judea,
because the Jews were trying to kill him.
But the Jewish feast of Tabernacles was near.
But when his brothers had gone up to the feast,
he himself also went up, not openly but as it were in secret.
Some of the inhabitants of Jerusalem said,
“Is he not the one they are trying to kill?
And look, he is speaking openly and they say nothing to him.
Could the authorities have realized that he is the Christ?
But we know where he is from.
When the Christ comes, no one will know where he is from.”
So Jesus cried out in the temple area as he was teaching and said,
“You know me and also know where I am from.
Yet I did not come on my own,
but the one who sent me, whom you do not know, is true.
I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me.”
So they tried to arrest him,
but no one laid a hand upon him,
because his hour had not yet come.

GOING DEEPER
God’s plan unfolds in His perfect timing—even when the world seems determined to stop it.
How often do we become anxious because events in our lives seem out of control or threatened?
In this Gospel we encounter a powerful tension surrounding Jesus. Many people are trying to kill Him. Rumors swirl through the streets of Jerusalem. Some think He may be the Messiah; others dismiss Him because they believe they know His background. Confusion, speculation, and hostility fill the air.
Yet one line in the passage changes everything: “No one laid a hand upon him, because his hour had not yet come.” Throughout John’s Gospel the phrase “his hour” refers to the moment of Christ’s Passion and glorification. Until that precise moment arrives, no human scheme can derail God’s plan.
This truth reveals something profound about divine providence. The Greek word kairos describes God’s appointed time—the decisive moment when His purposes unfold. Human beings operate according to schedules and pressures, but God acts according to His perfect kairos. Nothing arrives too early or too late.
The Feast of Tabernacles mentioned in this passage also carries deep meaning. During this festival Israel remembered God’s protection while they wandered in the desert, living in temporary shelters. It was a celebration of God’s faithful presence guiding His people through uncertain terrain.
Family life often feels like that wilderness journey. Parents face pressures from work, culture, and countless responsibilities. Children encounter confusion about identity and truth in a noisy world. It can sometimes feel as though the future of our families hangs in fragile balance.
But the Gospel reminds us that God’s providence is real. The same Father who guided Israel through the desert and protected Jesus until the appointed hour is actively guiding our lives today. His plan for our families cannot be thwarted by cultural confusion, fear, or opposition.
The key is trust. Jesus lived with complete confidence in the Father’s will and timing. He did not rush ahead of it, nor did He retreat from it. He moved faithfully within it.
Parents, this Gospel invites us to lead our homes with that same trust. Resist the anxiety that says everything depends on your control. Instead, surrender your family to the providence of God. Pray over your children by name. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide their steps. The Lord who protected His Son until the appointed hour is guiding your family within His perfect plan today.
“Divine providence consists of the dispositions by which God guides all his creatures with wisdom and love to their ultimate end.” (CCC 321)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: Where in my life am I struggling to trust God’s timing and providence?
In My Home: How can our family cultivate deeper trust in God’s guidance amid uncertainty?
In My World: Who might need encouragement today to trust that God is still at work in their life?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around, share one area where each person needs to trust God more deeply.
Then pray together as a family. Parents, place your hands gently on each person and pray over them by name. Ask the Lord to reveal His loving plan for their life. Renounce any fear or lies from the Enemy that say the future is uncertain or hopeless. Pray that each member of your family will grow in courage, wisdom, and joy as they follow the path God has prepared.
Daily Challenge: As a family, entrust one major concern to God today and consciously choose to place it in His hands.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
