GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
You were not made to drift with the world—you were made to stand ready for eternity.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Luke 17:26–37
Jesus said to his disciples:
“As it was in the days of Noah,
so it will be in the days of the Son of Man;
they were eating and drinking,
marrying and giving in marriage up to the day
that Noah entered the ark,
and the flood came and destroyed them all.
Similarly, as it was in the days of Lot:
they were eating, drinking, buying,
selling, planting, building;
on the day when Lot left Sodom,
fire and brimstone rained from the sky to destroy them all.
So it will be on the day the Son of Man is revealed.
On that day, someone who is on the housetop
and whose belongings are in the house
must not go down to get them,
and likewise one in the field
must not return to what was left behind.
Remember the wife of Lot.
Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it,
but whoever loses it will save it.
I tell you, on that night there will be two people in one bed;
one will be taken, the other left.
And there will be two women grinding meal together;
one will be taken, the other left.”
They said to him in reply, “Where, Lord?”
He said to them, “Where the body is,
there also the vultures will gather.”
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
Faith is not built for comfort—it’s built for crisis.
Jesus paints a sobering picture of ordinary life: people eating, drinking, marrying, working—just living. And then, suddenly, everything changes. The flood comes. Fire falls. Judgment arrives in a moment. The message is not about paranoia, but preparation. The danger isn’t activity—it’s distraction. The people of Noah’s and Lot’s day weren’t evil simply because they ate or worked—they were blind to eternity because they lived as if this life were all there is.
The Gospel’s “gotcha” line cuts through every generation’s complacency: “Remember the wife of Lot.” She looked back. Her heart was still attached to what God was leaving behind. The Greek word for “preserve” (peripoiesasthai) literally means “to hold tightly for oneself.” Jesus warns that clinging to temporary things—possessions, control, even reputation—can destroy what is eternal.
Our culture prizes the illusion of permanence. We store, scroll, and build as if time were an endless resource. But the Kingdom calls us to live unpacked—to hold everything loosely but love fiercely. The real question is not whether Christ will come suddenly, but whether He will find us spiritually awake when He does.
Families, this means learning to live each day ready for the knock of grace. Are we forming homes that hunger for Heaven or ones consumed by distraction? Parents, every time you choose prayer over screens, presence over noise, and mercy over self-protection, you teach your children how to face eternity unafraid.
The saints remind us: the end is not the enemy of joy; it’s the reason for it. When we live for Heaven, we finally learn how to live on earth.
“The message of the Last Judgment calls men to conversion while God is still giving them ‘the acceptable time, … the day of salvation.’” (CCC 1041)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
The Wake-Up Call: What distractions most keep me from remembering that this world is passing away?
Attachment Check: What might God be asking me to loosen my grip on so that I can live freer and holier?
Family Focus: How can our household grow more rooted in eternal perspective rather than worldly comfort?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Gather tonight for a brief prayer and reflection. Ask: “If Jesus came tonight, would He find our hearts ready?” Invite each family member to name one thing they want to let go of—resentment, worry, or distraction. Then pray over one another by name:
Lord Jesus, awaken [Name]’s heart to live ready for You. Break the hold of fear, comfort, and distraction. Fill [Name] with peace and holy desire, that our family may live each day watching and working for Your Kingdom.
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
