GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
You are My steward, not an owner. What I’ve entrusted to you is meant to be multiplied in love.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Luke 16:1–8
Jesus said to his disciples, “A rich man had a steward
who was reported to him for squandering his property.
He summoned him and said,
‘What is this I hear about you?
Prepare a full account of your stewardship,
because you can no longer be my steward.’
The steward said to himself, ‘What shall I do,
now that my master is taking the position of steward away from me?
I am not strong enough to dig and I am ashamed to beg.
I know what I shall do so that,
when I am removed from the stewardship,
they may welcome me into their homes.’
He called in his master’s debtors one by one.
To the first he said, ‘How much do you owe my master?’
He replied, ‘One hundred measures of olive oil.’
He said to him, ‘Here is your promissory note.
Sit down and quickly write one for fifty.’
Then to another he said, ‘And you, how much do you owe?’
He replied, ‘One hundred measures of wheat.’
He said to him, ‘Here is your promissory note;
write one for eighty.’
And the master commended that dishonest steward for acting prudently.
For the children of this world
are more prudent in dealing with their own generation
than the children of light.”
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
God doesn’t need our cleverness—but He blesses our conversion of it.
This parable often startles listeners. Why would Jesus praise a dishonest man? The Greek word for “prudently” (phronimos) means “with foresight.” The steward used his remaining time and resources to secure his future—albeit for self-preservation. Jesus doesn’t celebrate the man’s corruption, but his urgency. The point: if the “children of this world” are that shrewd about temporary gain, how much more should “the children of light” be wise with eternal treasure?
In the ancient Near East, stewards were agents of their master’s wealth, managing accounts and arranging transactions. This one squandered (diaskorpizō—literally “scattered”) what was entrusted to him. Yet when faced with judgment, he suddenly acts decisively. Jesus flips this worldly shrewdness into a spiritual mirror: the time for decisive repentance is now.
We, too, are stewards. Everything—our talents, relationships, wealth, and time—is borrowed breath from God. The question is not how much we have, but how we use it for His Kingdom. The dishonest steward represents every soul who realizes too late that the books of life are being balanced—and then, by grace, turns urgency into redemption.
In family life, this means living awake to eternity. Parents, how do you invest your “accounts”—your energy, attention, and affection? Are they tied up in trivial pursuits, or leveraged toward love that lasts? Every conversation, every moment of forgiveness, every prayer over your children is a spiritual transaction building eternal wealth.
Heaven’s economy works by generosity. The only currency that endures is love freely given.
“Man’s dominion over inanimate and other living beings… is not absolute; it is limited by concern for the quality of life of his neighbor and for future generations.” (CCC 2415)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
Stewardship Check: What part of your life—time, relationships, possessions—are you managing as if it belongs to you instead of God?
Urgent Love: How can you live more intentionally for eternity, using today’s “little things” for eternal purposes?
Kingdom Economy: What would it look like if your family treated love, mercy, and prayer as your most valuable investments?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around, name one thing each of you “owns” (a possession, time, or ability) that can be offered for God’s glory this week. Commit to one small, specific act of generosity together as a family.
Then pray over one another by name: Lord Jesus, teach [Name] to be a faithful steward of Your gifts. Awaken in [Name] a holy urgency to use every moment for Your Kingdom. Fill our home with wisdom and generosity that reflects the light of Your love.
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
