GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
I am stronger than the Enemy who seeks to hold you; remain with Me and gather with Me.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Luke 11:15-26
When Jesus had driven out a demon, some of the crowd said:
“By the power of Beelzebul, the prince of demons,
he drives out demons.”
Others, to test him, asked him for a sign from heaven.
But he knew their thoughts and said to them,
“Every kingdom divided against itself will be laid waste
and house will fall against house.
And if Satan is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand?
For you say that it is by Beelzebul that I drive out demons.
If I, then, drive out demons by Beelzebul,
by whom do your own people drive them out?
Therefore they will be your judges.
But if it is by the finger of God that I drive out demons,
then the Kingdom of God has come upon you.
When a strong man fully armed guards his palace,
his possessions are safe.
But when one stronger than he attacks and overcomes him,
he takes away the armor on which he relied
and distributes the spoils.
Whoever is not with me is against me,
and whoever does not gather with me scatters.
“When an unclean spirit goes out of someone,
it roams through arid regions searching for rest
but, finding none, it says,
‘I shall return to my home from which I came.’
But upon returning, it finds it swept clean and put in order.
Then it goes and brings back seven other spirits
more wicked than itself who move in and dwell there,
and the last condition of that man is worse than the first.”

GOING DEEPER
The freedom Jesus gives finds its fulfillment in a life increasingly surrendered to His presence.
Where have you worked to put your life in order while keeping Jesus at the edge of it?
There is a familiar hope beneath many of our efforts: if we can break this habit, resolve that conflict, or regain control of our schedule, we will finally be well. Such changes can be necessary and good. Yet we can achieve a measure of outward order while remaining inwardly anxious, isolated, and hungry. Today’s Gospel reaches beneath appearances. Jesus confronts a real spiritual enemy and reveals the authority to overcome him. His deliverance opens the way for us to live in communion with the One who sets us free.
The expression “finger of God” carries an important biblical echo. In Exodus, Pharaoh’s magicians use it when they encounter a divine power they cannot reproduce. Jesus’ hearers are being invited to recognize God’s liberating action before their eyes. Some instead explain away the very healing they have witnessed. That possibility should humble us: we, too, can resist grace when receiving it would require us to relinquish control, reconsider a judgment, or admit that we need rescue.
Then Jesus describes the stronger one overcoming the armed guardian. The center of this encounter is His victorious authority. We do not have to approach our spiritual struggles as though everything depends upon the force of our will. We must resist temptation and make concrete choices, but we do so by cooperating with grace. Christ brings us into His life, where we learn to depend upon His strength. Freedom grows as belonging deepens.
The final image is sobering: a house can be swept and arranged yet remain vulnerable to the return of what once occupied it. Read alongside Jesus’ summons to remain with Him, it exposes the insufficiency of outward reform alone. We might stop speaking harshly while continuing to nurse contempt, or remove a destructive distraction without learning how to be present to our family. The invitation reaches further than clearing away what harms us. Through prayer, the Eucharist, and Reconciliation, Jesus heals and nourishes our communion with Him, forming within us the love that gives freedom its purpose.
Our home is the domestic church, and we can ask a searching household question: what actually governs the atmosphere here? As parents, we may enforce good rules while allowing sarcasm, silent resentment, or relentless comparison to shape daily life. We welcome Christ’s reign when we seek forgiveness after a cutting remark, pray before a difficult conversation, and give our children patient attention. On this optional memorial of Saint John Henry Newman, Priest and Doctor of the Church, let our attention to Christian truth become a willingness to be changed by it. The faith we profess must reach the habits through which our family experiences us.
Build saint-forming homes where Christ’s presence shapes both the household’s practices and its relationships. Pray over your spouse and children by name, asking Jesus to free them from the Enemy’s lies and deepen their life in Him. Act in the power of the Holy Spirit: bring one persistent sin to Confession, establish a faithful rhythm of prayer, and replace one divisive habit with an act that gathers your family in love.

LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: What part of my inner life do I try to manage without allowing Jesus to question, heal, or redirect it?
In My Home: Which habitual response from me scatters trust in our household, and what would cooperation with Christ’s grace look like there?
In My World: Where could I interrupt a divisive conversation by speaking truth with humility and refusing contempt?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around … invite each person to name one habit that helps your family grow closer and one habit they personally want Jesus to help them change.
Pray over each person by name: “Lord Jesus, let [name] personally know the love with which You hold and call them. Free them from the Enemy’s lies that they are powerless to change or that their failures define them. Strengthen them to overcome temptation and choose what is true and good. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit and the joy of living the Gospel through honest words, faithful choices, and kindness toward those nearest to them. Amen.”
Daily Challenge: Replace one complaint about a family member with a specific word of appreciation spoken directly to them.
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
