GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
I am the Christ of God. Come with Me through the Cross.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Luke 9:18-22
Once when Jesus was praying in solitude,
and the disciples were with him,
he asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?”
They said in reply, “John the Baptist; others, Elijah;
still others, ‘One of the ancient prophets has arisen.’”
Then he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
Peter said in reply, “The Christ of God.”
He rebuked them and directed them not to tell this to anyone.
He said, “The Son of Man must suffer greatly
and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes,
and be killed and on the third day be raised.”

GOING DEEPER
The right name is not yet the full Gospel. The Christ must suffer, be killed, and be raised.
Beloved, who do you say that He is—when the answer will cost you?
Luke begins where the truth is born: Jesus praying. Only then does He ask. First the crowd’s report—the same rumors Herod was turning over in the palace. Then the question that cannot be outsourced: “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answers, “The Christ of God.” Christos means Anointed. It is the title of Israel’s hope. And immediately Jesus rebukes them into silence. The word is the same strong verb used to silence storms and demons. Why? Because a Messiah without the Cross becomes a slogan we can own. He will not be advertised on those terms.
Then the divine must: the Son of Man dei—it is necessary—that He suffer, be rejected by the holy offices, be killed, and on the third day be raised. The Creed is already in the prayer-circle of the Twelve. Identity and Passion are one sentence.
You can honor Jesus with true titles and still refuse the shape of His life. Today He is not asking for better vocabulary. He is asking whether the Christ you confess is the One who goes to the Cross—and whether you will go with Him.
Parents, build saint-forming homes. Pray over your spouse and children by name. Act in the power of the Holy Spirit by speaking Jesus’ true name in your house, then taking one step along His costly way.
“Jesus accepted Peter’s profession of faith, which acknowledged him to be the Messiah, by announcing the imminent Passion of the Son of Man. He unveiled the authentic content of his messianic kingship both in the transcendent identity of the Son of Man ‘who came down from heaven’ and in his redemptive mission as the suffering Servant: ‘The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.’” (CCC 440)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: Do I want a Christ who crowns me, or the Christ who is rejected and raised?
In My Home: How do we speak of Jesus—as a title we like, or as a Lord we follow?
In My World: Where is confessing Him going to cost something honest this week?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around …
Each person answers, simply: “Who do you say that Jesus is?” Then pray over your spouse and each person by name, asking the Father to deepen their personal knowledge of His love, free them from every lie of the Enemy, strengthen them against temptation, and fill them with joyful, concrete living of the Gospel.
Daily Challenge:
Name Jesus aloud as “the Christ of God,” then accept one hidden hardship today without self-pity, in union with Him.

LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.
