GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
Know your worth? It’s more than your possessions.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Luke 12:13-21
Someone in the crowd said to Jesus,
“Teacher, tell my brother to share the inheritance with me.”
He replied to him,
“Friend, who appointed me as your judge and arbitrator?”
Then he said to the crowd,
“Take care to guard against all greed,
for though one may be rich,
one’s life does not consist of possessions.”
Then he told them a parable.
“There was a rich man whose land produced a bountiful harvest.
He asked himself, ‘What shall I do,
for I do not have space to store my harvest?’
And he said, ‘This is what I shall do:
I shall tear down my barns and build larger ones.
There I shall store all my grain and other goods
and I shall say to myself, “Now as for you,
you have so many good things stored up for many years,
rest, eat, drink, be merry!”’
But God said to him,
‘You fool, this night your life will be demanded of you;
and the things you have prepared, to whom will they belong?’
Thus will it be for the one who stores up treasure for himself
but is not rich in what matters to God.”
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
Our deepest security grows from communion with the Father who gives us life and teaches us how to give it away.
What are you waiting to have enough of before you allow yourself to live fully with God and those you love?
The request sounds reasonable: help me receive my share. Many of us know the strain of financial uncertainty, an unequal arrangement, or a family dispute over money. Jesus does not settle the inheritance question. He addresses the danger that can take hold within it: our hearts can become so occupied with securing what we believe is ours that we lose sight of the life unfolding before us. Even a legitimate concern can grow until it governs our attention.
Notice how alone the rich man is in his abundance. His conversation circles through his harvest, his storage, his goods, and his future. No neighbor enters his deliberation. No thanksgiving interrupts his planning. Then comes a revealing turn: he speaks to himself as though stored grain could guarantee the years ahead. The gifts have become the foundation of a security they cannot provide. A full barn cannot hold another breath.
We recognize that inward conversation. Once the debt is paid, the business settles, or the savings reach a certain number, we imagine we will finally be present. Meanwhile, we carry our worries through prayer and resume managing them alone. Jesus reaches into that loneliness. We were created by God and for communion with Him; through Christ, we are invited to participate in His life now. We can bring Him the spreadsheet, the unpaid bill, and the fear beneath our relentless planning.
Being rich toward God takes shape through gratitude, responsible stewardship, worship, and generous love. Saving for genuine needs can serve those purposes. The searching question is whether our resources remain available to God’s purposes or become something around which we organize our entire existence. Today’s martyrs, Saints John de Brébeuf and Isaac Jogues and their companions, gave their lives in service of Christ and His Gospel. Their witness presses the question home: what is worth spending a life for?
For us as parents, the home is the domestic church, where our children learn what we consider treasure. We may work hard to provide opportunities while repeatedly postponing the conversation they need. We may purchase something for our spouse when what they most desire is our attention. Providing matters deeply; so does receiving the people already entrusted to us. At the Eucharist, Christ gives Himself to us and forms us in His self-giving love. That communion can continue in a patient bedtime, a shared meal, or help offered to someone whose need interrupts our plans.
Build saint-forming homes by making room for gratitude, generosity, and unhurried presence; pray over your spouse and children by name, asking that their security take root in the Father’s love; act in the power of the Holy Spirit by releasing one unnecessary acquisition and offering its cost or the time it would consume to a work of love.
“Abandonment to the providence of the Father in heaven frees us from anxiety about tomorrow.” (CCC 2547)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: What do I believe another possession or financial milestone will finally give me?
In My Home: Who has been receiving what remains of my attention after my pursuit of greater security?
In My World: How could something entrusted to me become a blessing for someone facing a genuine need?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around … invite each person to name something precious in their life that money cannot buy. Share why that gift matters and thank God for it together.
Then pray over each person by name: “Father, let [Name] personally know the depth of Your love. Free them from the Enemy’s lies that having more will make them more valuable or that they must face tomorrow alone. Strengthen them to overcome temptation, especially envy, greed, and neglect of others. Give them joy in following Jesus through grateful words, thoughtful sharing, and care for the people beside them. Amen.”
Daily Challenge: Choose one optional purchase to forgo and give that amount to someone in need.
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING

In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
