GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
You are not condemned. I came down, and I was lifted up, so that you would live.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | John 3:13-17
Jesus said to Nicodemus:
“No one has gone up to heaven
except the one who has come down from heaven, the Son of Man.
And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert,
so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.”
For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him might not perish
but might have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,
but that the world might be saved through him.

GOING DEEPER
The Cross is not God pointing at you. It is God lifting up His Son so you can look—and live.
Beloved, where have you been living as if you were being sentenced, when you were being sought?
Jesus is speaking to Nicodemus in the dark. A learned man, a leader, still coming by night. So the Lord does not begin with a lecture. He reaches for a memory Israel already carried in its bones: the desert, the poison, the bronze serpent lifted on a pole. Those who looked, lived. Healing did not come by explaining the snake away. It came by daring to gaze at the sign God raised up.
Then Jesus uses a word that changes the whole feast. The Greek hypsōō means both “to lift up physically” and “to exalt.” On a Roman cross, lifting was shame made public. In John’s Gospel, that same lifting is the glory. The Son is not exalted after He suffers. He is exalted as He is lifted. The wound becomes the place you are invited to look.
This is why “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son” is not a slogan. It is your name spoken from the Father’s heart. He did not send the Son to condemn the world. He sent Him so that you would not perish. You are not an audience to a doctrine of the Cross. You are the one for whom the Son came down, and the one for whom He was raised into view.
On this Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, the Church does not decorate death. She lifts Love where you can see it. Look there. Not as a student taking notes. As a son, a daughter, a household that finally knows Whose you are.
Parents, build saint-forming homes. Pray over your spouse and children by name. Act in the power of the Holy Spirit by lifting the Cross in your house today as mercy you receive, then mercy you become.
“God’s love for Israel is compared to a father’s love for his son. His love for his people is stronger than a mother’s for her children. God loves his people more than a bridegroom his beloved; his love will be victorious over even the worst infidelities and will extend to his most precious gift: ‘God so loved the world that he gave his only Son.’” (CCC 219)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: Where have I heard the Cross as condemnation instead of as the love that came down for me?
In My Home: How can the Cross become the way we give ourselves, not the way we accuse one another?
In My World: Whom am I tempted to condemn, and how is Jesus sending me instead as an instrument of salvation?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around …
Look at a crucifix if you have one, and name one way Jesus’ being “lifted up” changes how you see your own suffering or someone else’s. Then pray over your spouse and each person by name, asking the Father to deepen their personal knowledge of His love, free them from every lie of the Enemy, strengthen them against temptation, and fill them with joyful, concrete living of the Gospel.
Daily Challenge:
Kiss or touch a crucifix today and speak one sentence of faith: “You were lifted up so that I might live.”

LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.
