GOD'S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
I have placed My light in you—let it shine so others may see Me.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Luke 8:16-18
Jesus said to the crowd:
"No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel
or sets it under a bed;
rather, he places it on a lampstand
so that those who enter may see the light.
For there is nothing hidden that will not become visible,
and nothing secret that will not be known and come to light.
Take care, then, how you hear.
To anyone who has, more will be given,
and from the one who has not,
even what he seems to have will be taken away."

GOING DEEPER
Let the Light Be Seen
Light is meant to shine. Jesus’ image would have been obvious to His first hearers: lamps in first-century homes were small clay vessels filled with oil and placed on stands to illuminate an entire room. To hide such a lamp under a bed would not only make it useless—it would be dangerous, likely to set the whole place on fire. In other words, hiding the light is not just foolish, it is destructive.
Jesus warns us to “take care how you hear.” The Word of God is not neutral—it either grows within us and radiates outward, or it fades into nothing. To the one who receives and acts on it, grace multiplies. To the one who ignores it, even what little faith remains can wither.
Parents, our homes are the lampstands. The light of Christ in us is meant to illumine every corner of family life—our words, our attitudes, our schedules, our priorities. Children will learn from us whether the light of faith is something hidden away, only for Sunday, or something that shines daily in how we love, forgive, pray, and persevere.
This Gospel presses us to ask: Are we hiding the lamp, or raising it high? Do our children see faith clearly displayed in our home, or do they pick up a message that it belongs in the background, hidden beneath busyness, entertainment, or fear of what others might think?
To live as children of the light is not about perfection—it is about visibility. Even in our weakness, when we pray over our children by name and confess our dependence on Jesus, we reveal His light. Our honesty becomes illumination. Our repentance becomes invitation.
The world is dark. Families are being swallowed by confusion and despair. But one family living visibly in Christ becomes a beacon that can light a neighborhood, even a generation. Place the lamp where it belongs—on the stand of your home. Let your children see it and carry it forward.
“Jesus said: ‘I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’” (CCC 2466)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
Lampstand Check: Where am I tempted to hide the light of Christ in my daily life?
Family Witness: How clearly does the lamp of faith shine in my home—for my spouse, children, or grandchildren?
Courage to Shine: What is one concrete way I can place the light higher this week so others may see?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around, each person share one way they can “shine the light of Jesus” at home, at school, or at work this week.
Then pray over each person by name:
“Lord Jesus, let Your light shine brightly in [Name]. Protect them from every darkness, give them courage to live visibly as Your disciple, and help their life radiate the joy and hope of the Gospel to all who see them.”
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
