GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
You were created for communion with Me—keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking. I am nearer than your persistence can measure.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Luke 18:1–8
Jesus told his disciples a parable
about the necessity for them to pray always without becoming weary.
He said, “There was a judge in a certain town
who neither feared God nor respected any human being.
And a widow in that town used to come to him and say,
‘Render a just decision for me against my adversary.’
For a long time the judge was unwilling, but eventually he thought,
‘While it is true that I neither fear God nor respect any human being,
because this widow keeps bothering me
I shall deliver a just decision for her
lest she finally come and strike me.’”
The Lord said, “Pay attention to what the dishonest judge says.
Will not God then secure the rights of his chosen ones
who call out to him day and night?
Will he be slow to answer them?
I tell you, he will see to it that justice is done for them speedily.
But when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
Faith that stops asking has stopped believing.
Jesus tells this parable not to shame our weariness but to reignite our faith. The widow is the most powerless figure imaginable—a woman in a patriarchal society without husband, wealth, or status. Yet her relentless persistence topples indifference. She moves the heart of a corrupt judge not by power, but by perseverance.
The “gotcha” comes when Jesus turns that image toward God. If even an unjust judge finally yields to persistence, how much more will our loving Father respond to those who cry out in faith? The Greek word for “to weary” (hypopiazē) literally means “to strike under the eye”—to batter with persistence. Jesus invites a faith that wrestles, that keeps knocking until Heaven’s door opens wide.
But this isn’t just about personal prayer—it’s about relational trust. The judge grants a verdict to silence the widow; God answers to deepen intimacy. True prayer doesn’t change God’s heart—it changes ours to receive His. The delay isn’t denial—it’s formation.
Saint Albert the Great, known for his vast intellect and scientific insight, also understood that knowledge without prayer leads to pride. He wrote that “contemplation is the goal of all learning.” Persistent prayer shapes us into people who see as God sees—where justice, mercy, and truth converge.
Parents, perseverance in prayer is often tested most in the family. Maybe you’ve prayed for a child’s conversion, a marriage’s healing, or an impossible situation that hasn’t changed. Take heart. The Kingdom is often built in the silence between petitions. Keep praying aloud over your children, even when it feels repetitive. Heaven treasures every word of faith whispered in the dark.
When Christ returns, He will not measure our achievements but our trust. Faith endures not because it sees the result—but because it knows the One who hears.
“Prayer is the life of the new heart. It ought to animate us at every moment.” (CCC 2697)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
Persevering Faith: Where have I grown weary in prayer, and what might God be forming in the waiting?
Heart of Trust: How does my persistence—or lack thereof—reveal my relationship with the Father?
Family Prayer: What regular way can our family pray together this week for one another’s needs and thank God for His faithfulness?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Gather your family tonight and light a candle. Invite each person to share one prayer intention—something they’ve been asking God for over time. Then pray over one another by name:
Lord Jesus, strengthen [Name]’s faith to keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking. Fill [Name] with courage to trust Your timing and see Your love in the waiting. Make our family steadfast in prayer and radiant with hope.
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
