GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
You were not made to serve things—you were made to serve love. What you treasure reveals whom you trust.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Luke 16:9–15
Jesus said to his disciples:
“I tell you, make friends for yourselves with dishonest wealth,
so that when it fails, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.
The person who is trustworthy in very small matters
is also trustworthy in great ones;
and the person who is dishonest in very small matters
is also dishonest in great ones.
If, therefore, you are not trustworthy with dishonest wealth,
who will trust you with true wealth?
If you are not trustworthy with what belongs to another,
who will give you what is yours?
No servant can serve two masters.
He will either hate one and love the other,
or be devoted to one and despise the other.
You cannot serve God and mammon.”
The Pharisees, who loved money,
heard all these things and sneered at him.
And he said to them,
“You justify yourselves in the sight of others,
but God knows your hearts;
for what is of human esteem is an abomination in the sight of God.”
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
Money is not the problem—mastery is.
Jesus isn’t condemning wealth itself; He’s exposing its gravitational pull on the human heart. The word mammon comes from the Aramaic mamonas, meaning “that in which one trusts.” Money becomes “dishonest” (adikias—unrighteous) when it demands the faith that belongs to God alone. Jesus’ teaching is radical not because it forbids ownership, but because it redefines stewardship: everything we have must serve love, or it will enslave us.
He calls us to “make friends” with wealth—meaning to use material things to build eternal relationships. Money can either isolate or invite. In the Kingdom, generosity becomes a form of friendship that outlasts possessions. What’s spent in love is never lost; it’s merely converted into the currency of heaven.
Jesus warns that small choices reveal ultimate loyalties. The same heart that justifies cutting corners with “little things” will eventually betray the greater. The Pharisees loved their public image and their prosperity—they measured holiness by applause. But God, Jesus says, “knows your hearts.” His gaze is not impressed by what glitters. He looks for faithfulness in hidden acts of love, generosity, and honesty.
In family life, this Gospel is urgent. Parents, the way you talk about money teaches your children what to worship. Do they hear anxiety or gratitude? Control or trust? Children, your attitude toward possessions—sharing, patience, detachment—reveals whether your heart belongs to God or to mammon. A home that serves God above gain becomes a sanctuary of freedom.
The question is not whether we have wealth, but whether wealth has us.
“Detachment from riches is necessary for entering the Kingdom of heaven. All Christ’s faithful are to direct their affections rightly, lest they be hindered in their pursuit of perfect charity.” (CCC 2544–2545)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
Two Masters: In what area of your life do you feel torn between serving God and serving comfort, control, or success?
True Wealth: How can you reorient your time, money, or energy this week to build relationships that will last into eternity?
Hidden Trust: What small “dishonest” habit or justification might God be calling you to bring into the light?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around, name one material thing that often distracts you from gratitude or generosity. Together, choose one small sacrifice or act of giving to do as a family—perhaps donating toys, clothes, or money to someone in need.
Then pray over one another by name: Lord Jesus, free [Name] from the grip of mammon. Teach [Name] to see all things as gifts to be shared, not idols to be guarded. Make our home a place where generosity, gratitude, and trust in You rule our hearts.
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
