GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
Acknowledge Me before others, and trust that My Holy Spirit will teach you what to say when you are called to give witness.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Luke 12:8-12
Jesus said to his disciples:
“I tell you,
everyone who acknowledges me before others
the Son of Man will acknowledge before the angels of God.
But whoever denies me before others
will be denied before the angels of God.
“Everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven,
but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit
will not be forgiven.
When they take you before synagogues and before rulers and authorities,
do not worry about how or what your defense will be
or about what you are to say.
For the Holy Spirit will teach you at that moment what you should say.”
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
Faithful witness grows from a heart that receives mercy and depends upon the Holy Spirit.
When acknowledging Jesus might cost you someone’s approval, what do you reach for first?
Imagine hearing these words as a disciple who has left familiar surroundings to follow Jesus. He speaks of public acknowledgment, denial, and appearances before authorities. The danger is real. Yet He also promises the Spirit’s help in the very moment of need. His followers are being invited to entrust themselves to a presence they cannot control and a grace they cannot manufacture. We encounter that invitation whenever fidelity asks more of us than we feel equipped to give.
Notice the setting of His promise: they are being brought before religious and civil authorities. This is testimony under pressure. Jesus assures them of the Holy Spirit’s assistance; He does not promise that every spontaneous thought will be divinely inspired. We still need to learn the faith, listen carefully, and choose our words responsibly. His assurance frees us to do that preparation without imagining that everything finally depends upon our performance.
The warning about blasphemy against the Spirit deserves careful attention. The Catechism explains it in terms of deliberately refusing the mercy offered through repentance. A troubling thought or a past failure does not place a repentant person beyond forgiveness. The danger is the hardened refusal to receive the very healing God offers. If you recognize sin and desire to return, respond to that invitation: seek His mercy, including in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
We can spend years treating God as someone to consult while carrying our deepest fears alone. Jesus draws us into something more personal: a life shared with Him, sustained by His grace, and open to His Spirit. Today we honor Saint Ignatius of Antioch, bishop and martyr. His memorial gives this Gospel a solemn weight: acknowledging Christ can involve the offering of one’s life. Our daily surrender prepares us to remain faithful when the cost becomes greater.
For us as parents, the home is the domestic church, where witness often begins in an unremarkable conversation. We can explain why Sunday Mass matters, pray naturally before a meal with guests, or tell a child how Jesus is helping us forgive. We can acknowledge Him when admitting that we spoke harshly and need His help to change. Courage begins in communion. Our children need to see a faith we turn to when we are weak as well as a faith we speak about when we are confident.
Build saint-forming homes by speaking openly of Jesus and practicing repentance together; pray over your spouse and children by name, asking for courage rooted in His mercy; act in the power of the Holy Spirit by offering one clear, charitable witness to Christ when an opportunity arises.
“Such hardness of heart can lead to final impenitence and eternal loss.” (CCC 1864)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: What fear keeps me from entrusting my words and their consequences to the Holy Spirit?
In My Home: How can I help my family see that receiving forgiveness belongs at the heart of following Jesus?
In My World: Where is there a natural opportunity to acknowledge Christ with clarity and kindness?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around … invite each person to complete this sentence: “One thing I would like someone to know about Jesus is…” Give everyone time to speak in their own words.
Then pray over each person by name: “Lord Jesus, let [Name] personally know the love You have for them. Free them from the Enemy’s lies that their weakness makes them useless or their past makes forgiveness impossible. Strengthen them to overcome temptation, especially hiding their faith or refusing correction. Holy Spirit, give them joyful confidence to live the Gospel and gentle words to speak of Jesus when the moment comes. Amen.”
Daily Challenge: Share with one person a specific way your faith in Jesus helps you in daily life.
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
