INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Matthew 15:21-28
At that time, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon.
And behold, a Canaanite woman of that district came and called out,
“Have pity on me, Lord, Son of David!
My daughter is tormented by a demon.”
But Jesus did not say a word in answer to her.
Jesus’ disciples came and asked him,
“Send her away, for she keeps calling out after us.”
He said in reply,
“I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
But the woman came and did Jesus homage, saying, “Lord, help me.”
He said in reply,
“It is not right to take the food of the children
and throw it to the dogs.”
She said, “Please, Lord, for even the dogs eat the scraps
that fall from the table of their masters.”
Then Jesus said to her in reply,
“O woman, great is your faith!
Let it be done for you as you wish.”
And the woman’s daughter was healed from that hour.

GOING DEEPER
A mother’s faith does not surrender to silence, obstacles, or discouragement; it falls at the feet of Jesus and keeps praying.
For whom have you been praying so long that you are tempted to believe nothing will change?
This Canaanite woman comes from outside Israel’s covenant family, yet she addresses Jesus with a profoundly Jewish title: “Lord, Son of David.” She sees who He is. And she comes not for herself, but for her tormented daughter. Her prayer is brief, raw, and full of trust: “Have pity on me.” Then, when all seems silent: “Lord, help me.”
Jesus’ response is difficult, and we should not rush past it. He is drawing out the woman’s faith while revealing that His saving mission, first offered to Israel, will overflow to every nation. In the end, the woman is not excluded; she becomes a stunning sign that the mercy of God is reaching beyond every boundary.
Notice how she responds to the seeming obstacles. She does not argue from entitlement. She does not walk away in offense. She kneels. The Gospel says she “did Jesus homage”—the Greek word proskyneō describes an act of worship. Her perseverance is not stubbornness. It is humble confidence in the goodness of Christ.
This is a word for every parent and grandparent carrying concern for a child. We may pray for freedom from addiction, anxiety, unbelief, destructive relationships, anger, confusion, or wounds we cannot reach. We may feel that Heaven has gone quiet. But God’s silence is not His absence, and delay is not denial. Keep bringing your beloved ones to Jesus.
The domestic church is meant to be a house of intercession. Our children need to know that we will not simply worry about them; we will pray over them, fast for them, bless them, speak truth to them, and entrust them again and again to the Lord. Persistent prayer is not powerless repetition. It is love refusing to let despair have the last word.
Jesus marvels: “O woman, great is your faith!” May He find such faith in us. The Enemy tries to turn concern into panic, waiting into resentment, and unanswered prayer into unbelief. But faith kneels, asks, trusts, and remains. Great faith does not demand control; it clings to Christ.
Build saint-forming homes; pray over your children by name; act in the power of the Holy Spirit by bringing every burdened or distant loved one again to Jesus today.
Just as Jesus prays to the Father and gives thanks before receiving his gifts, so he teaches us filial boldness: “Whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you receive it, and you will.” Such is the power of prayer and of faith that does not doubt: “all things are possible to him who believes.” Jesus is as saddened by the “lack of faith” of his own neighbors and the “little faith” of his disciples as he is struck with admiration at the great faith of the Roman centurion and the Canaanite woman. FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around … share the name of one person for whom you want your family to pray this week.
Then pray over each person by name. Ask that each one know personally the love of the Father, be freed from every lie of the Enemy that says prayer is useless or God is absent, receive strength to overcome temptation, and be given joyful confidence to bring every need to Jesus.
Daily Challenge: Set aside five focused minutes today to pray by name for one person who feels beyond your reach.

LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.
