GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
I invite you to the wedding feast of My Son; do not let the demands of your day persuade you that My invitation can wait.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Matthew 22:1-14
Jesus again in reply spoke to the chief priests and elders of the people
in parables, saying,
"The kingdom of heaven may be likened to a king
who gave a wedding feast for his son.
He dispatched his servants
to summon the invited guests to the feast,
but they refused to come.
A second time he sent other servants, saying,
'Tell those invited: "Behold, I have prepared my banquet,
my calves and fattened cattle are killed,
and everything is ready; come to the feast."'
Some ignored the invitation and went away,
one to his farm, another to his business.
The rest laid hold of his servants,
mistreated them, and killed them.
The king was enraged and sent his troops,
destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.
Then he said to his servants, 'The feast is ready,
but those who were invited were not worthy to come.
Go out, therefore, into the main roads
and invite to the feast whomever you find.'
The servants went out into the streets
and gathered all they found, bad and good alike,
and the hall was filled with guests.
But when the king came in to meet the guests,
he saw a man there not dressed in a wedding garment.
The king said to him, 'My friend, how is it
that you came in here without a wedding garment?'
But he was reduced to silence.
Then the king said to his attendants, 'Bind his hands and feet,
and cast him into the darkness outside,
where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.'
Many are invited, but few are chosen."

GOING DEEPER
God invites us into the joy of communion with His Son, a gift that calls for our whole-hearted response.
What occupies your life so completely that God’s invitation to be with Him keeps becoming something for later?
The feast is ready before the guests arrive. The king has prepared generously and sends his servants to summon them. This is where the parable begins: with an invitation to share a joy already made possible. We often approach God as though we must first assemble a worthy life and then present it for approval. Yet in Jesus Christ, God comes seeking us. We are created for communion with Him, and His grace opens the way into the life we cannot provide for ourselves.
Some guests respond with violence; others simply return to their farm or business. That quieter refusal deserves our attention. Work and responsibility can be good, necessary, and even expressions of love. But they can also absorb us until the One who gives life becomes peripheral to living it. We intend to pray when things settle down, attend more faithfully when the schedule clears, or address a spiritual struggle when we feel ready. We can spend our lives preparing to live while postponing the communion that gives life its fullness. A full schedule can conceal a hungry soul.
The wedding imagery carries a deeper biblical resonance. The prophets portray God’s covenant with His people as a marriage; here, the banquet celebrates the king’s son. Jesus is revealing a Kingdom of personal belonging and shared joy. The gathering of good and bad alike announces the breadth of the invitation: our history does not place us beyond the reach of grace. The severe judgments also insist that this invitation matters eternally. God’s mercy calls for a response, and our freedom to refuse Him is tragically real.
The wedding garment brings that response into focus. Saint Augustine interpreted it as charity—the love that must animate our participation in the feast. We can be present among the guests while resisting the life the celebration asks us to embrace. This searches us gently but seriously: do we welcome Christ’s gifts while guarding our resentment, dishonesty, or indifference? He offers grace to transform us, including the places we find difficult to surrender. At Mass, this call becomes wonderfully concrete: Christ gives Himself in the Eucharist to deepen our union with Him, and Reconciliation prepares us to receive that gift when grave sin has broken our communion.
Our home is the domestic church, where the response to God’s invitation shapes what our children understand as important. As parents, we may insist that faith matters while giving every competing activity first claim upon our attention. We can begin differently today: prepare for Mass with care, put the phones away at dinner, ask our spouse what has been weighing upon them, and repair a hurt without demanding the last word. Our household learns the joy of belonging to God as His love becomes tangible in the way we make room for one another.
Build saint-forming homes that answer God’s invitation with faithful worship and generous love. Pray over your spouse and children by name, asking that each receive the grace of communion with Christ and respond freely to it. Act in the power of the Holy Spirit: protect time for the Lord, bring one guarded area of your heart to Him, and let the love received at His table shape the life around your own.
“Holy Communion augments our union with Christ.” (CCC 1391)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: What good or necessary pursuit has become a reason to postpone my response to God?
In My Home: What do our family’s actual priorities teach our children about the importance of communion with Christ?
In My World: Who might feel unwelcome or unworthy of approaching God, and how could I help them recognize His invitation?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around … invite each person to name something they look forward to sharing with the family, then discuss how you can approach Sunday Mass with a similar sense of anticipation and belonging.
Pray over each person by name: “Father, help [name] personally know the love with which You invite them into life with Your Son. Free them from the Enemy’s lies that they are unwanted or that other things will satisfy their deepest hunger. Strengthen them to overcome temptation and respond when You call. Fill them with joyful faith, and help them live the Gospel by welcoming someone, keeping a commitment to prayer, and choosing generosity today. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.”
Daily Challenge: At a meal today, each person share one way they will make room for God this week.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
