GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
Running on empty? You were made to love from an overflowing heart.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Matthew 22:34-40
When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees,
they gathered together, and one of them,
a scholar of the law tested him by asking,
"Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?"
He said to him,
"You shall love the Lord, your God,
with all your heart,
with all your soul,
and with all your mind.
This is the greatest and the first commandment.
The second is like it:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments."
EVERY DAY QUESTION

GOING DEEPER
The love God commands becomes possible through the life He shares with us.
Where are you trying to give a love you have scarcely allowed yourself to receive?
The scholar asks Jesus to identify the greatest commandment. We might welcome an answer that helps us organize our obligations and establish what deserves our attention first. Jesus answers with a claim upon the whole person: heart, soul, and mind. There is something both searching and beautiful here. God desires our love, including the inward life we so often keep to ourselves—the thoughts we rehearse, the fears we conceal, the hopes we hardly dare express.
Notice how Jesus joins two commandments and then says the whole law and the prophets depend upon them. Love for God and love for neighbor give the other obligations their coherence and direction. This does not make truth or obedience optional. It reaches into their purpose. A religious practice should help form a person who loves God more completely and responds more faithfully to the people He places within reach.
Yet many of us move through the day with an underlying sense of separation. We believe God loves us, but our inner world remains crowded with pressure, comparison, and the fear of falling short. Then someone needs patience we feel unable to give. Christ meets us in that poverty. Through Him, we are invited into communion with the Father and participation in His divine life. His Spirit can deepen and transform our capacity to love. An overflowing heart begins with an opened heart.
That opening can be very simple: “Father, I am here, and I need You.” Stay with Him without immediately turning prayer into a report or a request. Let His Word address you. Receive His forgiveness in Confession and His self-giving presence in the Eucharist. Love can remain faithful through dryness and exhaustion; its reality does not depend upon a warm feeling. Over time, this communion teaches us to offer ourselves with greater freedom.
For us as parents, the home is the domestic church, where the connection between these commandments becomes unmistakable. We rise from prayer and encounter the spouse whose concern feels inconvenient, the child repeating a question, the dishes someone left behind. Here is a place for the love we have professed to become personal. We can pause, ask for grace, and offer one attentive response. Loving our neighbor also includes receiving appropriate rest and help, acknowledging that we, too, are persons entrusted to God’s care.
Build saint-forming homes by making daily room to receive God’s love and express it toward one another; pray over your spouse and children by name, asking that each discover the joy of communion with Him; act in the power of the Holy Spirit by giving your full attention to one person whose need you have been tempted to dismiss.
“Charity upholds and purifies our human ability to love, and raises it to the supernatural perfection of divine love.” (CCC 1827)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: What part of my inner life have I rarely brought into an honest conversation with God?
In My Home: Who most needs a patient, attentive expression of my love today?
In My World: How might deeper communion with God change the way I respond to someone I find difficult?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around … invite each person to share one small action that helps them feel loved. Listen with interest, especially when someone’s answer differs from what you expected.
Then pray over each person by name: “Father, let [Name] personally know how deeply You love them. Free them from the Enemy’s lies that they must earn their worth or face life alone. Strengthen them to overcome temptation, especially selfishness, resentment, and indifference. Holy Spirit, fill them with joy in following Jesus and help them express Your love through a thoughtful word, a generous choice, and care for their neighbor. Amen.”
Daily Challenge: Do one specific thing someone named as helping them feel loved.
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
