GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
I let you go. Let your brother go.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Matthew 18:21-35
Peter approached Jesus and asked him,
“Lord, if my brother sins against me,
how often must I forgive?
As many as seven times?”
Jesus answered, “I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times.
That is why the kingdom of heaven may be likened to a king
who decided to settle accounts with his servants.
When he began the accounting,
a debtor was brought before him who owed him a huge amount.
Since he had no way of paying it back,
his master ordered him to be sold,
along with his wife, his children, and all his property,
in payment of the debt.
At that, the servant fell down, did him homage, and said,
‘Be patient with me, and I will pay you back in full.’
Moved with compassion the master of that servant
let him go and forgave him the loan.
When that servant had left, he found one of his fellow servants
who owed him a much smaller amount.
He seized him and started to choke him, demanding,
‘Pay back what you owe.’
Falling to his knees, his fellow servant begged him,
‘Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.’
But he refused.
Instead, he had the fellow servant put in prison
until he paid back the debt.
Now when his fellow servants saw what had happened,
they were deeply disturbed, and went to their master
and reported the whole affair.
His master summoned him and said to him, ‘You wicked servant!
I forgave you your entire debt because you begged me to.
Should you not have had pity on your fellow servant,
as I had pity on you?’
Then in anger his master handed him over to the torturers
until he should pay back the whole debt.
So will my heavenly Father do to you,
unless each of you forgives your brother from your heart.”
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
You are not the accountant in this parable. You are the one whose debt was cancelled.
Beloved, whose smaller offense are you still holding by the throat?
Peter wants a number. Seven already sounded holy—completeness, a finished mercy. Jesus breaks the calculator: seventy-seven times. Not a higher tally. The end of tallying. Then He tells you who you are. The first servant owes myria talanta—ten thousand talents, a sum so vast a laborer could not earn it in lifetimes. It is storytelling for “unpayable.” The man promises a plan. The king, “moved with compassion,” does not refinance him. He lets him go. He forgives the loan.
The tragedy is the walk out the door. The same man finds a fellow servant who owes him a hundred denarii—real money, yes, but nothing beside what he has just been released from. The plea in his ears is his own plea. He refuses. He chokes. He imprisons.
Hear the Master’s question as if it were spoken over your table: “Should you not have had pity on your fellow servant, as I had pity on you?” Forgiveness from the heart is not pretending the wound was imaginary. It is refusing to become jailer after you yourself have been set free.
Parents, build saint-forming homes. Pray over your spouse and children by name. Act in the power of the Holy Spirit by releasing one debt today that mercy has already made it wrong to keep.
“Thus the Lord’s words on forgiveness, the love that loves to the end, become a living reality. The parable of the merciless servant, which crowns the Lord’s teaching on ecclesial communion, ends with these words: ‘So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart.’” (CCC 2843)

In My Heart: What “entire debt” of mine do I forget when I start choking someone else?
In My Home: Whom have we quietly imprisoned for a much smaller amount?
In My World: Where is Jesus asking me to have pity as I have been pitied?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around …
Name one hurt you are ready to release, even if the feeling is not finished. Then pray over your spouse and each person by name, asking the Father to deepen their personal knowledge of His love, free them from every lie of the Enemy, strengthen them against temptation, and fill them with joyful, concrete living of the Gospel.
Daily Challenge:
Forgive one person from the heart today—aloud to God, and if possible, by a word or gesture to them.

LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.
