INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Matthew 21:28-32
Jesus said to the chief priests and elders of the people:
“What is your opinion?
A man had two sons.
He came to the first and said,
‘Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.’
He said in reply, ‘I will not,’
but afterwards changed his mind and went.
The man came to the other son and gave the same order.
He said in reply, ‘Yes, sir,’ but did not go.
Which of the two did his father’s will?”
They answered, “The first.”
Jesus said to them, “Amen, I say to you,
tax collectors and prostitutes
are entering the kingdom of God before you.
When John came to you in the way of righteousness,
you did not believe him;
but tax collectors and prostitutes did.
Yet even when you saw that,
you did not later change your minds and believe him.”

What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
The Father is not looking for a polished yes. He is looking for a child who finally goes.
Beloved, which son have you been lately—the one who sounds obedient, or the one who actually enters the vineyard?
The story is almost too simple to hide in. Two sons. One word from the father. One refuses and then changes his mind—metamelētheis, a turning that includes regret. The other offers the respectful “Yes, sir,” and never moves. Jesus makes the experts convict themselves: the first did the father’s will. Then He names the scandal. Those whose lives had been a public no—tax collectors, prostitutes—believed John and went. Those whose lives had been a public yes watched the conversion and still would not turn.
This is not a romance of rebellion. The first son’s no was real. What saves him is the afterwards. Heaven has room for a late obedience. It has far less room for a religious sentence that never becomes a step.
You can say “Lord” at Mass and stay in the house. You can have refused God last year and still go today. The vineyard is today. The Father is still coming to you with the same order: Son, daughter, go out and work.
Parents, build saint-forming homes. Pray over your spouse and children by name. Act in the power of the Holy Spirit by turning one spoken yes into motion—or one old no into a new going.
“Interior repentance is a radical reorientation of our whole life, a return, a conversion to God with all our heart, an end of sin, a turning away from evil, with repugnance toward the evil actions we have committed. At the same time it entails the desire and resolution to change one’s life, with hope in God’s mercy and trust in the help of his grace.” (CCC 1431)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: Where has my “Yes, sir” remained words without going?
In My Home: What vineyard work is the Father asking of us today—not someday?
In My World: Whom have I written off as a permanent “no,” though they may already be on their way?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around …
Name one “I will not” that needs to become a going, or one empty yes that needs a body. Then pray over your spouse and each person by name, asking the Father to deepen their personal knowledge of His love, free them from every lie of the Enemy, strengthen them against temptation, and fill them with joyful, concrete living of the Gospel.

Do the one thing you have already told God you would do—and have not done.

LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.
