GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
If you receive those I send, you receive Me—walk in humble obedience and you will be blessed
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | John 13:16-20
When Jesus had washed the disciples’ feet, he said to them:
“Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master
nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him.
If you understand this, blessed are you if you do it.
I am not speaking of all of you.
I know those whom I have chosen.
But so that the Scripture might be fulfilled,
The one who ate my food has raised his heel against me.
From now on I am telling you before it happens,
so that when it happens you may believe that I AM.
Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send
receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.”

GOING DEEPER
Humble obedience unlocks heavenly blessing.
Do you want the blessing of God—or just the appearance of following Him?
Jesus has just done the unthinkable: the Master has washed the feet of His disciples. In first-century culture, foot washing was reserved for the lowest servant. And yet, He doesn’t stop at the act—He interprets it. “If you understand this, blessed are you if you do it.” The blessing is not in knowing. It is in doing.
The Greek word for “blessed” here is makarios—deep, abiding joy rooted in divine favor. Not fleeting happiness, but a life aligned with God. And how is it accessed? Through humble, concrete obedience. Not theory. Not admiration. Action. “Blessing follows obedience, not observation.”
Jesus then introduces a sobering reality: even among those closest to Him, there is betrayal. “The one who ate my food has raised his heel against me.” This echoes Psalm 41:9—a prophetic image of intimacy turned against love. It reminds us that proximity to Jesus is not the same as fidelity to Him.
This matters deeply in our homes. It is possible to be “around” the things of God—Mass, prayer, conversations—and still resist the call to humble service. Our children are not formed by what we say we believe, but by what we consistently do. Do they see us serve one another? Forgive quickly? Choose humility over pride?
Jesus also reveals something powerful: “I am telling you before it happens… so that you may believe that I AM.” This is not just prediction—it is divine identity. “I AM” (ego eimi) echoes God’s self-revelation in Exodus. Jesus is not reacting to events—He stands sovereign within them. Even betrayal does not shake His mission.
And then comes the commission: “Whoever receives the one I send receives me.” This means our actions as disciples carry His presence. When we serve, love, and act in obedience, we become living conduits of Christ in the world—especially in our families.
So what does this look like today? It looks like choosing the lower place. It looks like initiating reconciliation. It looks like serving when no one notices. “Servant-hearted souls shape sacred spaces.” This is how homes become holy.
Today, don’t just understand the Gospel—do it. Parents, lead the way. Embrace the hidden, humble acts of love that form saints. Pray over your children by name. Serve your spouse with intention. And trust that every act of obedient love participates in the life and mission of Jesus Himself.
“Christ’s whole life is a mystery of redemption. Redemption comes to us above all through the blood of his cross, but this mystery is at work throughout Christ’s entire life: already in his Incarnation through which by becoming poor he enriches us with his poverty; in his hidden life which by his submission atones for our disobedience; in his word which purifies its hearers; in his healings and exorcisms by which ‘he took our infirmities and bore our diseases’; and in his Resurrection by which he justifies us.” (CCC 517)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: Where is God calling me to move from knowing what is right to actually doing it?
In My Home: How can I model humble, consistent service to my family in a more intentional way?
In My World: Who is God sending into my life that I am being called to receive and serve?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around … share one simple way you can serve someone else in the family today.
Then pray together as a family. Lay hands on each person and pray over them by name:
“Jesus, make [Name] a servant like You. Give them a humble heart, ready to love, ready to serve, ready to obey. Break every lie that says service is weakness. Fill them with Your strength, Your joy, and Your courage to live the Gospel boldly.”
Pray for a deep awareness of God’s love, freedom from pride and self-protection, strength to serve even when it’s hard, and joy in living a life poured out for others.
Daily Challenge: Perform one hidden act of service today without drawing attention to it.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
