A new episode drops every Saturday, setting up the journey for the following week.
GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
Peace be with you—do not be afraid, for I am truly present with you and I am sending you as My witness.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Luke 24:35-48
The disciples of Jesus recounted what had taken place along the way,
and how they had come to recognize him in the breaking of bread.
While they were still speaking about this,
he stood in their midst and said to them,
“Peace be with you.”
But they were startled and terrified
and thought that they were seeing a ghost.
Then he said to them, “Why are you troubled?
And why do questions arise in your hearts?
Look at my hands and my feet, that it is I myself.
Touch me and see, because a ghost does not have flesh and bones
as you can see I have.”
And as he said this,
he showed them his hands and his feet.
While they were still incredulous for joy and were amazed,
he asked them, “Have you anything here to eat?”
They gave him a piece of baked fish;
he took it and ate it in front of them.
He said to them,
“These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you,
that everything written about me in the law of Moses
and in the prophets and psalms must be fulfilled.”
Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.
And he said to them,
“Thus it is written that the Christ would suffer
and rise from the dead on the third day
and that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins,
would be preached in his name
to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.
You are witnesses of these things.”
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
The risen Jesus enters our fear with real peace, reveals Himself fully, and sends us as witnesses of His mercy.
What fears or doubts in your life today need to be met not with explanation, but with the real presence of Jesus?
The disciples are not calm, confident believers. They are startled. Terrified. Confused. Even after hearing the testimony of the Emmaus disciples, even after the Resurrection, they are still struggling to believe. This is crucial. The Gospel is honest about the human condition. Faith is not automatic. Even those closest to Jesus wrestled with fear and doubt.
And what does Jesus do first? He does not lecture. He does not correct. He speaks peace. The Greek word here, eirēnē, is not just the absence of conflict—it is wholeness, restoration, right relationship with God. He is not offering a feeling; He is declaring a reality. “Peace be with you” is the restoration of everything that sin had fractured.
But He does not stop at words. He says, “Look… touch… see.” Christianity is not an abstract idea. It is incarnational. The risen Jesus still bears wounds. This is a profound theological truth: His glorified body retains the marks of suffering, not as defeat, but as victory. In our homes, this matters deeply. Our wounds—handled in Christ—do not disqualify us. They become places of testimony, of credibility, of healing for others.
Then comes a strikingly human moment: He eats. Why? To show He is real. Tangible. Present. Not distant or theoretical. So often, we treat God like an idea to manage rather than a Person to encounter. But Jesus is not hovering at a distance from your family life. He desires to be present in your meals, your conversations, your struggles, your laughter. The Resurrection is not removed from reality—it redeems it.
Next, He “opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.” This echoes yesterday’s Gospel. There is a pattern: presence, understanding, mission. He forms them not just to believe, but to understand. The phrase implies a divine unlocking—like something previously closed is now accessible. In our homes, this is essential. We are not called to raise children who merely inherit traditions, but who understand the truth, who can see how all of Scripture points to Christ, who can live with clarity and conviction.
And then the mission: “You are witnesses.” Not spectators. Not consumers. Witnesses. The Greek root martys is where we get the word martyr—one who testifies with their life. This is the call of every Christian home. Not perfection. Not performance. Witness. A family that lives differently because Jesus is alive.
Parents, this is your moment. Do not let fear, doubt, or past wounds define the atmosphere of your home. Let the peace of Christ reign. Let your children see that Jesus is real—present in your prayer, your repentance, your forgiveness, your joy. Speak His name. Open the Scriptures. And pray over your children by name, that they would know Him not as an idea, but as the living Lord who sends them into the world.
“The family is the original cell of social life. It is the natural society in which husband and wife are called to give themselves in love and in the gift of life. Authority, stability, and a life of relationships within the family constitute the foundations for freedom, security, and fraternity within society.” (CCC 2207)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: Where am I still troubled or doubtful, and how is Jesus inviting me to receive His peace?
In My Home: What would it look like for our family to more visibly live as witnesses of Jesus’ real presence?
In My World: How can I testify—through word or action—that Jesus is alive and bringing forgiveness and new life?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around, share one fear or worry each person is carrying—and one place where they need Jesus’ peace.
Then pray aloud as a family. Pray over each person by name. Invite the peace of Jesus into their hearts. Renounce every lie of the Enemy that says they are alone, afraid, or without hope. Ask for strength to trust Him, courage to face challenges, and joy to live as witnesses of His love in real, everyday ways.
Daily Challenge: Speak the words “Peace be with you” to each member of your family today—and mean it, pray it, and live it.
