GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
Stay awake with Me—I am coming, and I have placed you in charge of My household.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Matthew 24:42-51
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Stay awake!
For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.
Be sure of this:
if the master of the house
had known the hour of night when the thief was coming,
he would have stayed awake
and not let his house be broken into.
So too, you also must be prepared,
for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.
“Who, then, is the faithful and prudent servant,
whom the master has put in charge of his household
to distribute to them their food at the proper time?
Blessed is that servant whom his master on his arrival finds doing so.
Amen, I say to you, he will put him in charge of all his property.
But if that wicked servant says to himself, ‘My master is long delayed,’
and begins to beat his fellow servants,
and eat and drink with drunkards,
the servant’s master will come on an unexpected day
and at an unknown hour and will punish him severely
and assign him a place with the hypocrites,
where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.”
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
The Master has entrusted His household to us—will He find us awake and feeding His children when He returns?
What would shift in our daily rhythm if we truly believed the Lord could return before tonight’s dishes are washed?
In the ancient world, a household steward did not merely “manage tasks.” He was charged with the life of the family—distributing food at the proper time, protecting the vulnerable, keeping order while the master was away. The Greek word oikonomos carries the weight of sacred trust. Jesus chooses this image deliberately: every parent, every spouse, every grandparent has been placed in charge of a portion of the Master’s household.
We know the temptation of the wicked servant. When the Master seems delayed, the heart drifts. Screens replace conversation. Sharp words replace patient instruction. Comfort replaces the quiet discipline of prayer. The house begins to be broken into—not by an external thief, but by our own spiritual sleep.
Saint Monica never stopped watching. Year after year she prayed for her restless son Augustine, refusing to believe that delay meant abandonment. Her vigilance was not anxious control; it was persistent, tear-soaked love that trusted the Master’s timing more than her own. Because she stayed awake in intercession, the Church received one of her greatest doctors.
The domestic church is the first household placed under our care. When we rise early to pray even five quiet minutes, when we correct with firmness and mercy, when we refuse to let cynicism or distraction rule the dinner table, we are distributing the Master’s food at the proper time. We are keeping the house ready.
Blessed is the servant found doing so. The reward is not merely personal salvation—it is greater trust, deeper authority, more of the Master’s own heart given into our hands.
Parents, build saint-forming homes. Pray over your children by name. Act in the power of the Holy Spirit so that when the Master returns, He finds your household awake, fed, and radiant with His presence.
“Such a battle and such a victory become possible only through prayer. It is by his prayer that Jesus vanquishes the tempter, both at the outset of his public mission and in the ultimate struggle of his agony. In this petition to our heavenly Father, Christ unites us to his battle and his agony. He urges us to vigilance of the heart in communion with his own. Vigilance is ‘custody of the heart,’ and Jesus prayed for us to the Father: ‘Keep them in your name.’ The Holy Spirit constantly seeks to awaken us to keep watch. Finally, this petition takes on all its dramatic meaning in relation to the last temptation of our earthly battle; it asks for final perseverance. ‘Lo, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is he who is awake.’” (CCC 2849)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: Where have I begun to say, “My Master is delayed,” and slipped into spiritual sleep?
In My Home: How can we help one another stay awake and distribute the Master’s food—His Word, His mercy, His presence—this week?
In My World: Whom has the Master placed under my care that I have neglected to feed with prayerful vigilance?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around …
Offer a short prayer of readiness, then pray over each person by name, asking the Father to deepen their personal knowledge of His love, free them from every lie of the Enemy, strengthen them against temptation, and fill them with joyful, concrete living of the Gospel.
Daily Challenge:
Choose one ordinary moment today (a meal, bedtime, a car ride) and deliberately stay fully present—phones down, eyes open, heart awake—as an act of stewardship for the Master’s household.
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING

In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
