GOD'S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
I have appointed you as a steward. Stay awake and live ready.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Matthew 24:42–51
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Stay awake!
For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.
Be sure of this: if the master of the house
had known the hour of night when the thief was coming,
he would have stayed awake
and not let his house be broken into.
So too, you also must be prepared,
for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.
“Who, then, is the faithful and prudent servant,
whom the master has put in charge of his household
to distribute to them their food at the proper time?
Blessed is that servant whom his master on his arrival finds doing so.
Amen, I say to you, he will put him in charge of all his property.
But if that wicked servant says to himself, ‘My master is long delayed,’
and begins to beat his fellow servants,
and eat and drink with drunkards,
the servant’s master will come on an unexpected day
and at an unknown hour and will punish him severely
and assign him a place with the hypocrites,
where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.”

GOING DEEPER
Wake-Up Call to Stewards of the Kingdom
Jesus' words today are as direct as they are urgent. “Stay awake!” This is not just about end-times speculation. It’s about how we’re living right now—moment to moment—in light of eternity. The question is not if the Lord will return, but when, and whether we’ll be found faithful when He does.
The Greek word for “stay awake” (grēgoreite) implies vigilance, alertness, and readiness—like a watchman scanning the horizon in the middle of the night. It’s not about anxiety, but about attentiveness rooted in love. It's the kind of watchfulness that parents have over their children, or lovers have when waiting at the airport. Jesus is looking for that kind of longing and readiness in us.
And He’s entrusted us with His household. That means our homes are not just places of physical shelter, but sacred spaces where the Kingdom is supposed to be visible and active. You’ve been given stewardship—over your marriage, your children, your influence. The call is not merely to believe, but to build—to lead, feed, and serve those entrusted to you as if Jesus could walk through the door at any moment. Because He can. And He will.
Let’s be real: the world lulls us to sleep. We get caught in the grind, the scrolling, the bills, the school schedules. We numb ourselves with distraction. We buy the lie that we’ve got time. But we don’t know when our last breath will come—or when our child’s heart will be most open to the truth.
Parents, let’s live as though every moment matters—because it does. Let your kids catch you praying. Let your spouse see you repent. Lead the spiritual charge in your home. Speak Jesus’ name aloud. Don’t let your faith be theoretical—let it be practical, visible, and real.
This isn’t about fear. It’s about purpose. You were made for this. Don’t wait for the perfect moment. This is the moment. Stay awake.
“The Christian vocation is, of its nature, a vocation to the apostolate… the whole Church is apostolic in that she remains, through the successors of St. Peter and the Apostles, in communion of faith and life with her origin, and in that she is ‘sent out’ into the whole world.” (CCC 863)

Make some time today to gather together and, going around, share what it might mean to “stay awake” and live ready for Jesus’ return—at home, at school, at work.
Then pray over each person by name:
that Jesus Christ, the Faithful Shepherd, would awaken every heart, ignite every gift, and appoint each one as vigilant stewards of His Kingdom—especially in the little things of daily life.
