INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Matthew 16:13–23
Jesus went into the region of Caesarea Philippi
and he asked his disciples,
“Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah,
still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
Simon Peter said in reply,
“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Jesus said to him in reply, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah.
For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father.
And so I say to you, you are Peter,
and upon this rock I will build my Church,
and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.
I will give you the keys to the Kingdom of heaven.
Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven;
and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
Then he strictly ordered his disciples
to tell no one that he was the Christ.
From that time on, Jesus began to show his disciples
that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer greatly
from the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes,
and be killed and on the third day be raised.
Then Peter took Jesus aside and began to rebuke him,
“God forbid, Lord! No such thing shall ever happen to you.”
He turned and said to Peter,
“Get behind me, Satan! You are an obstacle to me.
You are thinking not as God does, but as human beings do.”
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
The Question That Defines Everything
“Who do you say that I am?” It’s the most important question ever asked. And not just once—but every day, in every moment, Jesus puts it before us. Your answer defines your identity, your relationships, your mission, and your eternity.
Jesus brings His disciples to Caesarea Philippi—a region infamous for pagan worship, especially of Pan, the goat god. There, amid physical idols and spiritual confusion, He reveals the truth of His identity and confers spiritual authority on Peter. Jesus uses the Greek petra (massive rock) and Petros (Peter)—a divine pun establishing the unshakable foundation of His Church.
But just moments after Peter gets it gloriously right, he gets it terribly wrong. Why? Because divine revelation isn’t about head knowledge—it’s about alignment. Peter’s thoughts shifted from God’s plan to human expectations. So Jesus calls him Satan—literally, “adversary”—because Peter, though sincere, was resisting the very Cross that would save him.
Parents, the world is full of wrong answers to the question of who Jesus is. Your children will absorb those answers unless they see and hear yours lived clearly. Let today be a declaration. Call on His Name out loud. Proclaim Him as the Christ, the Son of the living God over your home. Rebuke every whisper that says comfort matters more than the Cross. Speak over your children: “Jesus, You are the Rock. Be the foundation of [name]’s life. Reveal Your identity and mission to them. May they think, love, and live as You do.”
“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” This isn’t just Peter’s answer. It must become ours—daily.
“Christ, ‘the living stone,’ thus assures His Church, built on Peter, of victory over the powers of death. Because of the faith he confessed Peter will remain the unshakable rock of the Church.” (CCC 552)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
Revealed or Assumed: Is your faith based on personal encounter and revelation—or inherited assumptions?
God’s Thoughts or Yours: Where in your life might you be resisting God's will because it doesn't match your expectations?
Proclaim the Christ: How can you boldly speak the truth of who Jesus is today, especially in your home?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around, have each person answer Jesus’ question: “Who do you say that I am?” Then pray aloud over one another:
“Jesus, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. Help [name] to know You more deeply. Let them live boldly in Your truth and walk in Your power, founded on the Rock of Your Church.”
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
