GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
Ask Me with trust—I am a Father who gives good gifts, not stones.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Matthew 7:7-12
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Ask and it will be given to you;
seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds;
and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
Which one of you would hand his son a stone
when he asked for a loaf of bread,
or a snake when he asked for a fish?
If you then, who are wicked,
know how to give good gifts to your children,
how much more will your heavenly Father give good things
to those who ask him.
“Do to others whatever you would have them do to you.
This is the law and the prophets.”
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
Persistent prayer rests on the goodness of the Father.
Jesus uses three verbs: ask, seek, knock. In Greek, they imply ongoing action. Keep asking. Keep seeking. Keep knocking. Prayer is not a single attempt but a sustained posture of trust.
The image is intimate. A child asks for bread. A parent does not hand him a stone. The logic is relational, not mechanical. God’s generosity flows from who He is, not from how perfectly we phrase our petitions.
Notice the realism: “you who are wicked.” Even flawed parents desire to give good gifts. How much more the heavenly Father. Jesus does not idealize human parenting; He contrasts it with divine fidelity.
The “good things” the Father gives are not always the immediate objects of our request. Sometimes they are deeper—patience instead of instant resolution, courage instead of escape, wisdom instead of comfort. Prayer does not guarantee preference; it guarantees providence.
The Golden Rule follows seamlessly. When we trust the Father’s goodness, we become agents of goodness. “Do to others” becomes natural when we live as children rather than orphans.
This transforms the domestic church. Children who see parents pray persistently without cynicism learn resilience. They learn that unanswered prayers are not evidence of abandonment but invitations to deeper trust.
Persistent prayer purifies desire. The door may not open on our timetable, but it opens in God’s.
Build saint-forming homes by modeling steady, trusting prayer, pray over your children by name that they may never doubt the Father’s goodness, and act boldly in the power of the Holy Spirit, choosing to treat others with the generosity you hope to receive from God.
“By prayer of petition we express awareness of our relationship with God. We are creatures who are not our own beginning, not the masters of adversity, not our own last end.” (CCC 2629)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: Do I truly believe God delights in giving good gifts?
In My Home: How do we respond when prayer feels delayed or unanswered?
In My World: Am I treating others with the mercy and generosity I desire?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around, share one prayer request you want the family to carry together this week.
Then pray together aloud. As parents, place a hand on each person and pray over them by name, asking that they know God’s love personally, be freed from the Enemy’s lies that God is distant or stingy, be strengthened to overcome temptation, and be filled with confident trust in the Father’s goodness.
Daily Challenge: Set aside five focused minutes today to ask, seek, and knock with intentional persistence.
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
