GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
I am willing. I draw near to what the world avoids, and I make clean what you believed could never be healed.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Mark 1:40–45
A leper came to him and kneeling down begged him and said,
“If you wish, you can make me clean.”
Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand,
touched the leper, and said to him,
“I do will it. Be made clean.”
The leprosy left him immediately, and he was made clean.
Then, warning him sternly, he dismissed him at once.
Then he said to him, “See that you tell no one anything,
but go, show yourself to the priest
and offer for your cleansing what Moses prescribed;
that will be proof for them.”
The man went away and began to publicize the whole matter.
He spread the report abroad
so that it was impossible for Jesus to enter a town openly.
He remained outside in deserted places,
and people kept coming to him from everywhere.
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
Jesus does not heal from a distance—He crosses the boundary that isolates us.
Leprosy in the first century was not merely a disease; it was a sentence of exclusion. Lepers were cut off from worship, family, and ordinary human touch. To approach Jesus was already an act of courage. To kneel before Him was an act of trust. The man does not question Jesus’ power—only His will.
Mark tells us that Jesus is “moved with pity.” The Greek word conveys a visceral compassion, a stirring from the depths. And then comes the shock: Jesus stretches out His hand and touches the leper. This is not required for healing. It is chosen. Jesus risks ritual impurity to restore communion. Love moves first.
The words of Jesus are direct and sovereign: “I do will it.” Healing is not accidental or reluctant. It is the deliberate expression of God’s desire to restore what is broken. Cleansing here is not only physical; it is relational and spiritual. The man is returned to community, worship, and dignity.
Yet Jesus gives a stern command: go to the priest, follow the law, allow the healing to be rightly received and ordered. Obedience matters. Grace does not abolish order; it fulfills it. The man’s disobedience—though enthusiastic—creates confusion and displacement. Jesus ends up on the outside, in deserted places.
This Gospel confronts us at home. We parents encounter wounds—our own and our children’s—that feel untouchable. Shame, failure, addiction, resentment, fear. Christ does not recoil. But He asks that healing be received humbly and lived obediently. Freedom without obedience quickly becomes noise.
Here is the paradox of mercy: Jesus enters our isolation so we can re-enter communion—but He asks us to walk the path He sets, not the one we prefer.
Build homes where nothing is hidden from Christ’s touch. Pray over your children by name, especially where there is shame or fear. Trust His will to heal, and live that healing in obedience, through the power of the Holy Spirit.
“The signs worked by Jesus attest that the Father has sent him. They invite belief in him. To those who turn to him in faith, he grants what they ask. So miracles strengthen faith in the One who does his Father’s works; they bear witness that he is the Son of God. But his miracles can also be occasions for “offense”; they are not intended to satisfy people’s curiosity or desire for magic. Despite his evident miracles some people reject him; he is even accused of acting by the power of demons.” CCC 548)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: Where do I struggle to believe that Jesus truly wills my healing?
In My Home: What wounds or fears need to be brought into Christ’s light within our family?
In My World: How can I witness to Christ’s mercy without substituting obedience with impulse?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around, share one place where each person desires healing or deeper peace.
Pray aloud together, intentionally praying over each person by name, asking Jesus to draw near to hidden wounds, to break the lies of shame and isolation, to strengthen hearts against temptation, and to restore joy, confidence, and communion through His healing love.
Daily Challenge: Name one area today where you will invite Jesus’ healing touch and respond with concrete obedience.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
