GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY

INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Matthew 13:47-53
Jesus said to the disciples:
“The Kingdom of heaven is like a net thrown into the sea,
which collects fish of every kind.
When it is full they haul it ashore
and sit down to put what is good into buckets.
What is bad they throw away.
Thus it will be at the end of the age.
The angels will go out and separate the wicked from the righteous
and throw them into the fiery furnace,
where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.”
“Do you understand all these things?”
They answered, “Yes.”
And he replied,
“Then every scribe who has been instructed in the Kingdom of heaven
is like the head of a household who brings from his storeroom
both the new and the old.”
When Jesus finished these parables, he went away from there.

GOING DEEPER
Jesus entrusts the treasures of His Kingdom to us so that our homes may become places where truth is received, lived, and handed on.
What treasures of faith has God placed in our care that our family most needs to draw upon today?
The net gathers fish “of every kind.” Jesus is realistic about the world and about the human heart: good and evil are not imaginary, and our choices matter eternally. The Enemy constantly tries to convince us that discernment is judgmental, that truth is restrictive, or that sin is harmless. Jesus gives us a far more loving vision: what is good must be protected because it is meant to live.
Then comes His striking image of the head of a household. A faithful scribe does not hoard what he has learned. He brings from his storeroom “both the new and the old.” The Greek word for storeroom, thēsauros, is the same word that gives us “treasure.” The disciple has been given a treasury—not merely information, but the living riches of God’s Word, the sacraments, the saints, and the wisdom of the Church.
This is a beautiful image for parents and grandparents. We are not asked to manufacture a faith from scratch or to possess every answer. We are called to draw faithfully from the treasure God has given us and place it before those entrusted to us. A crucifix, a family meal, a Scripture verse, a bedtime blessing, a sincere apology, Sunday Mass—these are not small things. They are Kingdom treasures in the household storehouse.
The “old” is the faith handed down through the centuries: the Creed, the Commandments, the Gospel, the Eucharist, and the communion of saints. The “new” is the fresh grace God desires to give us today: the particular word we need for a child, the courage needed in a conversation, the forgiveness required in a marriage, the unexpected invitation of the Holy Spirit.
A home becomes a domestic church when its members learn to recognize and share these treasures. We can help one another separate what is life-giving from what quietly poisons the soul. The world may toss countless voices into the net of our attention, but Christ teaches us to keep what leads us toward heaven.
Open the storehouse. Build saint-forming homes, pray over your children by name, and act in the power of the Holy Spirit so that your family may receive, guard, and generously share the treasures of the Kingdom.
“Education in the faith by the parents should begin in the child’s earliest years. This already happens when family members help one another to grow in faith by the witness of a Christian life in keeping with the Gospel. Family catechesis precedes, accompanies, and enriches other forms of instruction in the faith. Parents have the mission of teaching their children to pray and to discover their vocation as children of God.” (CCC, 2226)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: What influence in my life needs clearer discernment because it is drawing me away from the treasures of God’s Kingdom?
In My Home: What one treasure of our Catholic faith can we bring more intentionally into the life of our family this week?
In My World: How can I share the truth of Christ today with both conviction and genuine love?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around … invite each person to name one treasure of faith they are grateful to have received from their family, parish, or another person.
Then pray over each person by name. Ask the Father to let them know how greatly they are loved, to free them from the Enemy’s lies, to give them strength against temptation, and to help them recognize and choose what leads them closer to Christ. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill your home with a joyful love for the treasures of the Catholic faith.
Daily Challenge: Place one visible reminder of faith in a central place in your home today and take one minute together to pray before it.

LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.
