GOD'S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY

INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Matthew 13:47–53
Jesus said to the disciples:
"The Kingdom of heaven is like a net thrown into the sea,
which collects fish of every kind.
When it is full they haul it ashore
and sit down to put what is good into buckets.
What is bad they throw away.
Thus it will be at the end of the age.
The angels will go out and separate the wicked from the righteous
and throw them into the fiery furnace,
where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth."
"Do you understand all these things?"
They answered, "Yes."
And he replied,
"Then every scribe who has been instructed in the Kingdom of heaven
is like the head of a household who brings from his storeroom
both the new and the old."
When Jesus finished these parables, he went away from there.

GOING DEEPER
The net is cast wide. It gathers everyone—every kind of fish. But it will not always remain indiscriminate. There will come a time of sorting.
We’re not used to this language of judgment. We like Jesus gentle, not just. We want comfort, not confrontation. But the Gospel today calls us to reckon with a Kingdom that is both merciful and accountable. It reminds us that God's love is not passive tolerance—it is passionate pursuit that insists on transformation.
Jesus ends this teaching by describing “every scribe instructed in the Kingdom” as someone who brings forth treasures both old and new. This speaks to our responsibility: to not only receive the Gospel but to live and proclaim it with wisdom and relevance. We don’t reject tradition for relevance, nor do we reject relevance for tradition. The storeroom is not one or the other—it is both.
The Greek word used here for “scribe” is grammateus, meaning not just someone who copies words, but one who studies and interprets them. In Christ, we are all called to be Kingdom scribes—people who know the Word deeply and speak it boldly in our time. The “household” begins at home. Are we storing and sharing the treasures of faith with our spouse and children?
Parents, take this seriously. Speak life. Correct in love. Pray over your spouse and children in the name of Jesus. Your words have power. Your home is the first sorting net. Teach your children that grace is free, but it’s not cheap. Teach them that truth is not subjective. Teach them to discern between fish that nourish and fish that poison.
"The Kingdom of God comes in a hidden way in the preaching of the Word. To receive it, one must accept the Word and bear fruit in virtue." (CCC 546)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
Sorting Starts at Home: What am I permitting into my mind, home, and habits that dulls my spiritual senses or confuses my children?
Old and New: What treasures of the faith (Scripture, prayer, tradition) am I intentionally handing on to those entrusted to me?
Net of Grace: What bold but loving truth do I need to proclaim—at home or at work—that reflects Jesus’ justice and mercy?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around, each share something “new” God is doing in your life, and something “old” (a tradition, memory, or truth) that has helped you stay rooted in faith. Then pray over each other aloud, in Jesus’ name, to be given the wisdom and courage to live as Kingdom scribes.

LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.
