INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Matthew 10:7-15
Jesus said to his Apostles:
“As you go, make this proclamation:
‘The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.’
Cure the sick, raise the dead,
cleanse the lepers, drive out demons.
Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.
Do not take gold or silver or copper for your belts;
no sack for the journey, or a second tunic,
or sandals, or walking stick.
The laborer deserves his keep.
Whatever town or village you enter, look for a worthy person in it,
and stay there until you leave.
As you enter a house, wish it peace.
If the house is worthy,
let your peace come upon it;
if not, let your peace return to you.
Whoever will not receive you or listen to your words--
go outside that house or town and shake the dust from your feet.
Amen, I say to you, it will be more tolerable
for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment
than for that town.”
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
The Gospel is never something we possess. It is a gift we have received—and are sent to become.
When people encounter you, do they experience someone trying to win an argument...or someone through whom Christ Himself is drawing near?
Jesus sends the apostles with astonishing simplicity. They are to proclaim the Kingdom, heal the sick, cleanse lepers, cast out demons, and announce God’s peace. Yet before describing what they are to do, He reminds them how they have received it: “Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.” The Christian life is never a transaction. It is always participation in a gift. Everything essential—life, grace, forgiveness, faith, salvation—has first been received before it can ever be offered.
That single sentence reshapes our entire understanding of mission. We do not evangelize because we have mastered the faith, but because mercy has mastered us. We do not proclaim ourselves, our opinions, or our achievements. We bear witness to the One who has first loved us. The more deeply we recognize that everything is gift, the more naturally generosity, humility, and joy become the language of our lives.
Jesus also sends the apostles with remarkable poverty. They are to carry almost nothing with them. This is not because possessions are evil, but because dependence is holy. Every disciple must eventually choose what—or Whom—he truly trusts. We often imagine that if we only had more resources, more influence, or more security, we could finally accomplish God’s work. Jesus teaches the opposite. The Kingdom advances most powerfully through hearts that know their sufficiency is found in Him.
Notice, too, that Jesus commands them to offer peace before they offer correction. Peace in Scripture—shalom—is far more than the absence of conflict. It signifies wholeness, communion, and life lived in right relationship with God. Evangelization begins not by winning debates but by becoming people in whom others encounter the peace of Christ. Some will receive that peace; others will reject it. Jesus frees His disciples from measuring success by results. Fidelity belongs to us. The harvest belongs to God.
This is especially important within the family. Parents often feel responsible for controlling outcomes in the lives of their children. Yet even Jesus allowed Himself to be rejected. Our task is not to force conversion but to faithfully witness, lovingly teach, patiently accompany, and ceaselessly pray. Build saint-forming homes where generosity is freely practiced, peace is intentionally cultivated, and every member knows they are loved before they are corrected. Pray over your spouse and children by name. Call daily upon the Holy Spirit. The greatest inheritance we can leave our children is not comfort or success, but a home where Christ’s freely given love became visible.
Every day we are sent into a world longing for what it cannot manufacture: hope, mercy, truth, peace, and love. We already possess none of these as our own. They have all been entrusted to us by Christ. Freely we have received. Freely may we give.
“The Church was founded for the purpose of spreading the kingdom of Christ throughout the earth for the glory of God the Father, to enable all men to share in His saving redemption.” (CCC 768)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: Have I begun to treat God’s gifts as something I own rather than something I have received?
In My Home: How can our family more intentionally reflect Christ’s generosity, peace, and trust in God’s providence?
In My World: Who is God inviting me to serve today without expecting recognition or repayment?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Gather together and have each family member name one gift they have freely received from God—whether a talent, relationship, opportunity, or grace.
Then pray over each person by name. Thank God for His generosity, ask Him to deepen your trust in His providence, and pray that your family will become a joyful witness of lives freely given for others.
Daily Challenge: Perform one hidden act of generosity today for someone who can never repay you.
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
