GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
You were made to love Me with your whole heart and to reveal My love to others.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Mark 12:28-34
One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked him,
"Which is the first of all the commandments?"
Jesus replied, "The first is this:
Hear, O Israel!
The Lord our God is Lord alone!
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul, with all your mind,
and with all your strength.
The second is this:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
There is no other commandment greater than these."
The scribe said to him, "Well said, teacher.
You are right in saying,
He is One and there is no other than he.
And to love him with all your heart,
with all your understanding,
with all your strength,
and to love your neighbor as yourself
is worth more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices."
And when Jesus saw that he answered with understanding,
he said to him, "You are not far from the Kingdom of God."
And no one dared to ask him any more questions.
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
The measure of a life is not how much we accomplish, but how deeply we love.
If someone observed your daily life, what would they conclude you love most?
A scribe approaches Jesus with a question that had occupied religious scholars for generations: Which commandment is the greatest? Out of hundreds of laws and regulations, what matters most? Jesus’ answer cuts through every distraction and complication. Love God completely. Love your neighbor as yourself. Everything else flows from there.
The word Jesus uses for love is not primarily a feeling or emotion. In the biblical sense, love is a total gift of self. Notice the progression: heart, soul, mind, and strength. In other words, every dimension of our being is meant to be oriented toward God. Christianity is not merely believing certain truths about God; it is ordering our entire lives around Him.
One reason so many people feel exhausted today is that they are attempting to give ultimate devotion to lesser things. Careers, possessions, popularity, politics, sports, entertainment, and even good things like family can become disordered when they occupy the place that belongs to God alone. What we worship shapes what we become. The heart that loves God first learns how to love everything else rightly.
The scribe’s response is remarkable. He recognizes that genuine love is worth more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices. Jesus is not dismissing worship; He is revealing its purpose. The goal of prayer, Mass, Scripture, and every spiritual practice is deeper communion with God and greater love for others. Ritual without relationship eventually becomes empty.
Today’s Gospel offers a profound challenge for our homes. The domestic church is not built primarily through programs, schedules, or even good intentions. It is built when husbands, wives, parents, and children learn to love God together and allow that love to overflow into daily life. The strongest families are not the ones without struggles but the ones continually returning to the source of Love Himself.
Jesus tells the scribe, “You are not far from the Kingdom of God.” What moved him closer was not simply knowledge but understanding. The same invitation stands before us today. Build saint-forming homes by making love of God the center of family life. Pray over your spouse and children by name. Call daily upon the Holy Spirit. Let your words, priorities, schedules, and decisions proclaim that loving God with all your heart is not merely the greatest commandment—it is the pathway to becoming fully alive.
“To love is to will the good of another.” (CCC 1766)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: What currently competes with God for first place in my life?
In My Home: What practical step can our family take to place God more intentionally at the center of our daily life?
In My World: Who is God inviting me to love more intentionally this week?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around, share one way you have experienced God’s love recently and one way you can better show His love to someone else.
Then pray over each person by name. Thank God for creating them in love and for love. Pray that they know His love more deeply, reject every lie of the Enemy, receive strength to overcome temptation, and become powerful witnesses of Christ’s love in the world.
Daily Challenge: Perform one hidden act of sacrificial love today without seeking recognition or thanks.
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
