INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | John 17:20-26
Lifting up his eyes to heaven, Jesus prayed saying:
“I pray not only for these,
but also for those who will believe in me through their word,
so that they may all be one,
as you, Father, are in me and I in you,
that they also may be in us,
that the world may believe that you sent me.
And I have given them the glory you gave me,
so that they may be one, as we are one,
I in them and you in me,
that they may be brought to perfection as one,
that the world may know that you sent me,
and that you loved them even as you loved me.
Father, they are your gift to me.
I wish that where I am they also may be with me,
that they may see my glory that you gave me,
because you loved me before the foundation of the world.
Righteous Father, the world also does not know you,
but I know you, and they know that you sent me.
I made known to them your name and I will make it known,
that the love with which you loved me
may be in them and I in them.”
EVERY DAY QUESTION

GOING DEEPER
Christian unity flows from shared communion with the love of God.
Would the way you live at home make someone more likely—or less likely—to believe that Jesus is real?
This Gospel is extraordinary because Jesus is praying not only for the apostles—but for us. “I pray… for those who will believe in me through their word.” Before the Cross, before Pentecost, before centuries of Christianity unfolded, Jesus already held us in His heart. You were personally included in Christ’s prayer.
And what does He pray for above all? Unity. “That they may all be one.” But this is not mere institutional cooperation or surface-level harmony. Jesus compares this unity to the communion of the Trinity itself: “as you, Father, are in me and I in you.” The Greek word hen points to profound spiritual communion rooted in shared truth and love.
This means Christianity is fundamentally relational. The enemy constantly works to fracture—marriages, families, friendships, churches, communities. Division thrives wherever pride, resentment, gossip, or isolation take root. But unity becomes a supernatural witness to the reality of God. Divided disciples distort the Gospel; united disciples display it.
And notice why unity matters so much: “that the world may believe.” The credibility of the Gospel is deeply connected to the visible love Christians show one another. People are not only listening to what we say about Jesus—they are watching how we treat one another.
Jesus also says something astonishing: “You loved them even as you loved me.” Let that sink in. The Father loves believers with the very love He has for His Son. Most people spend their lives chasing approval, validation, and identity because they do not know this truth deeply enough. Secure identity grows from received love, not earned applause.
This has enormous implications for family life. Our homes are meant to become living icons of Trinitarian communion—places where forgiveness is practiced, sacrifice is normal, prayer is shared, and unity is protected. The domestic church becomes one of the strongest witnesses to the world when love remains present even amid imperfections and struggles.
And yet unity does not happen accidentally. It requires humility, repentance, patience, and truth. Many homes are quietly fractured not by dramatic betrayal, but by constant irritation, sarcasm, emotional distance, or unresolved wounds. Small resentments slowly poison communion when left unattended.
Today, remember that Jesus is praying for you. Parents, guard the unity of your homes fiercely. Pray over your children by name and over your marriage with intentionality. Refuse division, bitterness, and spiritual passivity. And let your family become a visible witness that the love of God is real, active, healing, and alive in the world today.
“The desire to recover the unity of all Christians is a gift of Christ and a call of the Holy Spirit.” (CCC 820)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: Is there any resentment, pride, or division I need to surrender in order to grow in unity with others?
In My Home: How can we more intentionally cultivate peace, forgiveness, and unity in our family life?
In My World: How can my relationships become a stronger witness to the reality of Christ’s love?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around … share one thing you appreciate about another person in the family.
Then pray together as a family. Lay hands on each person and pray over them by name:
“Jesus, fill [Name] with Your love and peace. Protect them from division, bitterness, and discouragement. Help them grow in humility, forgiveness, and unity. Let our family reflect Your love to the world.”
Pray for deep unity rooted in Christ, freedom from resentment and division, strength to forgive quickly, and joyful communion within your home and relationships.
Daily Challenge: Intentionally reconcile, encourage, or reconnect with one person today where there has been distance, tension, or neglect.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
