GOSPEL | Luke 15:1-10
The tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to listen to Jesus,
but the Pharisees and scribes began to complain, saying,
“This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”
So Jesus addressed this parable to them.
“What man among you having a hundred sheep and losing one of them
would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert
and go after the lost one until he finds it?
And when he does find it,
he sets it on his shoulders with great joy
and, upon his arrival home,
he calls together his friends and neighbors and says to them,
‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’
I tell you, in just the same way
there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents
than over ninety-nine righteous people
who have no need of repentance.
“Or what woman having ten coins and losing one
would not light a lamp and sweep the house,
searching carefully until she finds it?
And when she does find it,
she calls together her friends and neighbors
and says to them,
‘Rejoice with me because I have found the coin that I lost.’
In just the same way, I tell you,
there will be rejoicing among the angels of God
over one sinner who repents.”

GOING DEEPER
God’s mercy seeks us personally and invites us to share His joy in every returning heart.
When you picture God looking for you, do you imagine disappointment on His face—or delight at bringing you home?
The complaint concerns Jesus’ welcome. People identified by their sins are approaching Him to listen, and others find His willingness to eat with them objectionable. Jesus answers by revealing the joy of recovery. His listeners are invited to consider what they would do for something precious that had gone missing. We need that invitation whenever shame persuades us that our failures have made us unwanted.
Notice what follows the finding in both parables: the shepherd and the woman gather others into their joy. Recovery becomes a shared celebration. Jesus presses beyond whether sinners may approach Him into whether we can rejoice when they do. We may affirm mercy in principle while becoming uncomfortable when it reaches someone whose wrongdoing has offended us. The heart of God asks something more generous of us.
The sheep also comes home carried. That detail gives us a tender image for the dependence we sometimes resist. We want to arrive before God with our habits corrected and our feelings properly arranged. Yet repentance begins through grace already reaching toward us. Christ meets the person who needs help returning. His mercy gives us courage to acknowledge sin, receive forgiveness, and begin making the changes love requires.
We can experience this lostness even within a busy religious life. Our prayers continue while our inner world grows isolated, governed by anxiety or an injury we keep rehearsing. Jesus calls us into living communion with Himself. We were created for that relationship, and through Him we are invited to participate in God’s life. Bring Him the place where you have wandered. In Confession, a sincere return becomes a concrete encounter with His forgiving love.
For us as parents, the home is the domestic church, where we can help one another recognize the sound of welcome. A child admits a lie; we can address the wrongdoing and thank them for telling the truth. A spouse acknowledges a failure; we can receive the apology without reopening every past offense. Accountability belongs within love that desires restoration. Let repentance find a welcome in our homes.
Build saint-forming homes by making honest return possible and forgiveness tangible; pray over your spouse and children by name, asking Jesus to reach each place of wandering and shame; act in the power of the Holy Spirit by taking one step toward reconciliation and responding generously when someone else takes theirs.

LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: What am I reluctant to bring before Jesus because I fear how He will receive me?
In My Home: How do my reactions affect someone’s willingness to admit a failure and seek forgiveness?
In My World: Whose return to God would challenge me to rejoice rather than remain suspicious?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around … invite each person to remember the relief of finding something important they thought was lost. Then consider together what it means that Jesus describes heaven rejoicing over a person’s repentance.
Then pray over each person by name: “Lord Jesus, help [Name] personally know the joy of being loved by You. Free them from the Enemy’s lies that their sins make them worthless or that they must hide when they fall. Strengthen them to overcome temptation and seek Your forgiveness promptly. Holy Spirit, fill them with joyful willingness to live the Gospel through honesty, mercy, and a warm welcome for those beginning again. Amen.”
Daily Challenge: Take one concrete step toward reconciliation: offer an apology, receive one graciously, or make a plan for Confession.
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
