GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
I invite you to keep asking, seeking, and knocking; your heavenly Father gives the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Luke 11:5-13
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Suppose one of you has a friend
to whom he goes at midnight and says,
‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread,
for a friend of mine has arrived at my house from a journey
and I have nothing to offer him,’
and he says in reply from within,
‘Do not bother me; the door has already been locked
and my children and I are already in bed.
I cannot get up to give you anything.’
I tell you, if he does not get up to give him the loaves
because of their friendship,
he will get up to give him whatever he needs
because of his persistence.
“And I tell you, ask and you will receive;
seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks, receives;
and the one who seeks, finds;
and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
What father among you would hand his son a snake
when he asks for a fish?
Or hand him a scorpion when he asks for an egg?
If you then, who are wicked,
know how to give good gifts to your children,
how much more will the Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit
to those who ask him?”
EVERY DAY QUESTION

GOING DEEPER
The Father invites us to bring our emptiness into the relationship where His Spirit can fill and transform us.
What have you stopped bringing to God because asking again feels pointless—or because admitting your need feels too exposing?
There is something deeply familiar about having nothing left to offer. We reach the end of our patience, our answers, our ability to help someone we love. Often we conceal that emptiness beneath busyness or competence. Even our prayer can become a brief report before we resume carrying everything ourselves. Today, Jesus places a person with empty hands at the center of His teaching. Need becomes the occasion for approaching another rather than withdrawing into shame.
Notice why this man asks for bread: someone else has arrived hungry. His petition grows out of hospitality, and his own insufficiency sends him seeking help. Here is a searching invitation for anyone responsible for others. We cannot manufacture everything our families need. The humility to ask opens us to receive what we can then share. Our limits can become places of encounter with God when we bring them honestly into His presence.
The story begins with a reluctant neighbor, but Jesus leads us toward a generous Father. The movement is an argument from the lesser to the greater: if even an inconvenienced friend responds, and flawed parents give nourishing gifts, how much more can we approach God with confidence? We need not wear Him down until He becomes willing to love us. Persistent prayer keeps us turning toward His goodness when disappointment tempts us to live as though we are alone.
Then comes the extraordinary culmination: the Father gives the Holy Spirit. We may arrive asking chiefly for a changed circumstance; Jesus directs our attention to the divine gift through whom we share God’s life. Bring the practical request—the diagnosis, the bill, the struggling child—and remain open to His wisdom about its answer. His Spirit can deepen our courage, purify our desires, and enable faithful action while the difficulty remains. The Father’s greatest gift brings us into communion with Him.
Our home is the domestic church, where this trust must become more than an idea. As parents, we may repeatedly ask for a child’s return to faith while needing grace to stop turning every conversation into an argument. We may pray for peace in our marriage while needing the courage to listen, apologize, or seek help. The Spirit received in Baptism and strengthened through Confirmation is no distant resource. We can turn to Him within the tense conversation and ask for the patience we do not presently possess. Empty hands are an honest beginning.
Build saint-forming homes where asking God for help is a daily expression of belonging to Him. Pray over your spouse and children by name, bringing their particular needs before the Father with persevering trust. Act in the power of the Holy Spirit: renew the petition you have abandoned, ask for grace to take your next faithful step, and offer your family the love God supplies.
“In communion with their Master, the disciples’ prayer is a battle; only by keeping watch in prayer can one avoid falling into temptation.” (CCC 2612) vatican.va
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: Where has disappointment quietly persuaded me to expect little from God and depend entirely upon myself?
In My Home: What am I trying to provide for my family without first asking the Holy Spirit to work within me?
In My World: Whose unmet need could move me to intercede faithfully and offer whatever help is within my reach?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around … invite each person to share one situation in which they need help and one person whose needs they would like to bring before God.
Pray over each person by name: “Father, let [name] personally experience the security of Your love. Free them from the Enemy’s lies that their prayers are unwelcome or their weakness makes them unworthy of Your care. Strengthen them to overcome temptation, especially discouragement and the urge to give up doing good. Pour out Your Holy Spirit upon them, and give them joy in living the Gospel through one brave, generous choice today. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.”
Daily Challenge: Set one reminder today to pause together and ask the Holy Spirit for help with a specific family need.
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
