GOD'S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
I am not a rumor or a ghost from the past—I am the Living God who desires to be seen and known by you.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Luke 9:7-9
Herod the tetrarch heard about all that was happening,
and he was greatly perplexed because some were saying,
"John has been raised from the dead";
others were saying, "Elijah has appeared";
still others, "One of the ancient prophets has arisen."
But Herod said, "John I beheaded.
Who then is this about whom I hear such things?"
And he kept trying to see him.
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
Curiosity or Conversion?
Herod is haunted. He has silenced John the Baptist by beheading him, but he cannot silence his conscience—or the rumors about Jesus. Reports swirl: maybe John is back from the dead, maybe Elijah, maybe another prophet. Herod wants to see Jesus, but it is not the gaze of faith. It is curiosity mixed with guilt, fear, and suspicion.
In the first-century world, kings and rulers often held court with prophets, hoping to use them for their purposes. But Jesus is no court prophet. He cannot be manipulated, reduced to entertainment, or dismissed as rumor. He is the Son of God, demanding not curiosity but conversion.
How often are we like Herod—interested in Jesus, even fascinated by Him, but hesitant to let Him unsettle our lives? We may admire His words, but keep Him at a safe distance, unwilling to repent, to change, to obey. Faith requires more than curiosity—it demands surrender.
Parents, this distinction is vital in the home. Our children will not be saved by vague interest in Jesus. They must see us take Him seriously—repenting, forgiving, adjusting our lives around His Word. Do they see us treat Him as Lord of our schedules, our money, our decisions, or as a figure of passing interest?
Herod’s “trying to see” stands in stark contrast to the disciples, who left everything to follow. The invitation today is to move from curiosity to conversion. What if tonight you prayed over your children by name, asking that they not only hear about Jesus, but encounter Him as the Living God who saves? That prayer is the lampstand on which the light shines in your home.
“Faith is a personal adherence of the whole man to God who reveals himself. It involves an assent of the intellect and will to the self-revelation God has made through his deeds and words” (CCC 176).
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
Curiosity Check: Where in my life am I more curious about Jesus than committed to Him?
Family Witness: How can I help my children move from “hearing about Jesus” to truly following Him?
Conversion Call: What concrete step of repentance or obedience is Jesus asking of me today?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around, each person share one way they can take Jesus more seriously in their daily life.
Then pray over each person by name:
“Lord Jesus, reveal Yourself to [Name] not as a rumor, but as the Living God. Free them from fear, doubt, or half-heartedness. Draw them into deep faith, true repentance, and joyful obedience to You.”
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
