GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
Put out into the deep. The night of empty nets is not the last word I will speak over your life.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Luke 5:1-11
While the crowd was pressing in on Jesus and listening to the word of God, he was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret. He saw two boats there alongside the lake; the fishermen had disembarked and were washing their nets. Getting into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, he asked him to put out a short distance from the shore. Then he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat. After he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water and lower your nets for a catch.” Simon said in reply, “Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets.” When they had done this, they caught a great number of fish and their nets were tearing. They signaled to their partners in the other boat to come to help them. They came and filled both boats so that the boats were in danger of sinking. When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at the knees of Jesus and said, “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.” For astonishment at the catch of fish they had made seized him and all those with him, and likewise James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners of Simon. Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” When they brought their boats to the shore, they left everything and followed him.

GOING DEEPER
The deep is where tired obedience becomes vocation.
Where have we settled for washing empty nets instead of lowering them again at His word?
Jesus does not wait for a perfect boat. He gets into Simon’s—the one that has already failed through the night. First He teaches. Then He commands what looks unreasonable: go deeper, after failure, in daylight, when fisherman-sense says the work is over. Simon’s reply is the hinge of every household of faith: we have caught nothing—but at your command.
The catch is so great it threatens the boats. Grace is not tidy. It tears old nets. It requires partners. It sinks the illusion that we can manage God. Peter’s first deep response is not strategy. It is confession: “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.” Holiness does that. The closer the Lord comes, the more clearly we see our need.
Jesus does not depart. He names the man. “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” The miracle was never mainly about fish. It was about a family, a future Church, a life no longer owned by the shoreline.
Saint Gregory the Great knew this movement. A man of prayer drawn from contemplative quiet into the crushing care of the Church, he let the Lord commandeer his boat. He called himself “servant of the servants of God.” The deep was not glory. It was obedience that became a net for souls.
Parents, build saint-forming homes. Pray over your spouse and children by name. Act in the power of the Holy Spirit by lowering the net one more time where He points.
“Jesus is the Father’s Emissary. From the beginning of his ministry, he ‘called to him those whom he desired.’ … From them he formed a group of twelve that they might be with him and he might send them out to preach. They would be his ‘emissaries’ (Greek apostoloi). In them, Christ continues his own mission.” (CCC 858)

In My Heart: Where am I still arguing from the night of empty nets instead of saying, “at your command”?
In My Home: What “deep water” is Jesus asking our family to enter together?
In My World: Whom is He asking us to help draw into the boat?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around …
Share one place you feel empty or tired. Then pray over your spouse and each person by name, asking the Father to deepen their personal knowledge of His love, free them from every lie of the Enemy, strengthen them against temptation, and fill them with joyful, concrete living of the Gospel.
Daily Challenge:
Do one act of obedience today that does not make sense apart from Jesus’ word.

LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.
