INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Luke 7:36-50
A certain Pharisee invited Jesus to dine with him,
and he entered the Pharisee’s house and reclined at table.
Now there was a sinful woman in the city
who learned that he was at table in the house of the Pharisee.
Bringing an alabaster flask of ointment,
she stood behind him at his feet weeping
and began to bathe his feet with her tears.
Then she wiped them with her hair,
kissed them, and anointed them with the ointment.
When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this he said to himself,
“If this man were a prophet,
he would know who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him,
that she is a sinner.”
Jesus said to him in reply,
“Simon, I have something to say to you.”
“Tell me, teacher,” he said.
“Two people were in debt to a certain creditor;
one owed five hundred days’ wages and the other owed fifty.
Since they were unable to repay the debt, he forgave it for both.
Which of them will love him more?”
Simon said in reply,
“The one, I suppose, whose larger debt was forgiven.”
He said to him, “You have judged rightly.”
Then he turned to the woman and said to Simon,
“Do you see this woman?
When I entered your house, you did not give me water for my feet,
but she has bathed them with her tears
and wiped them with her hair.
You did not give me a kiss,
but she has not ceased kissing my feet since the time I entered.
You did not anoint my head with oil,
but she anointed my feet with ointment.
So I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven;
hence, she has shown great love.
But the one to whom little is forgiven, loves little.”
He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”
The others at table said to themselves,
“Who is this who even forgives sins?”
But he said to the woman,
“Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
Simon looked at a category. Jesus looked at a woman.
Beloved, who has been in the room with you—and have you truly seen them?
In a first-century house, hospitality had a grammar everyone knew: water for the road-dust on a guest’s feet, a kiss of greeting, oil for the head. Simon offered the invitation and withheld the welcome. The woman, who was not supposed to be there, performs every missing rite with her own body. Tears become the basin. Hair becomes the towel. An alabaster flask—costly, breakable, once-for-all—is poured out. She does not speak. She spends herself.
Then Jesus asks the question that searches every Christian home: “Do you see this woman?” Simon has already answered in his heart: he sees “what sort.” Jesus sees a debtor who has been forgiven much, and therefore loves much. The love is not a fee she pays to purchase pardon. It is the overflow of a heart that knows it has been released.
You may be Simon today—correct, composed, and untouched. You may be the woman—convinced your name is already decided. Either way, the Lord is turned toward you. He still forgives. He still sends people out with a word no gossip can cancel: “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

Parents, build saint-forming homes. Pray over your spouse and children by name. Act in the power of the Holy Spirit by seeing someone today the way Jesus sees them—not as a sort, but as a soul.
“During his public life Jesus not only forgave sins, but also made plain the effect of this forgiveness: he reintegrated forgiven sinners into the community of the People of God from which sin had alienated or even excluded them. A remarkable sign of this is the fact that Jesus receives sinners at his table, a gesture that expresses in an astonishing way both God’s forgiveness and the return to the bosom of the People of God.” (CCC 1443)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: Have I let myself be forgiven much—or have I kept my debt small so my love could stay small?
In My Home: Whom do we still see as a “sort,” rather than as a person Jesus has turned toward?
In My World: Where can I offer real welcome—water, a kiss of peace, costly honor—instead of a mere invitation?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around …
Share one person you have labeled instead of seen. Then pray over your spouse and each person by name, asking the Father to deepen their personal knowledge of His love, free them from every lie of the Enemy, strengthen them against temptation, and fill them with joyful, concrete living of the Gospel.

Offer one concrete gesture of honor today to someone you have been quietly judging.

LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.
