GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
I desire not a polished appearance, but a heart made pure and wholly Mine.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Matthew 15:1–2, 10–14
Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said,
“Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders?
They do not wash their hands when they eat a meal.”
He summoned the crowd and said to them,
“Hear and understand.
It is not what enters one’s mouth that defiles that person;
but what comes out of the mouth is what defiles one.”
Then his disciples approached and said to him,
“Do you know that the Pharisees took offense
when they heard what you said?”
He said in reply,
“Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted
will be uprooted.
Let them alone; they are blind guides of the blind.
If a blind man leads a blind man,
both will fall into a pit.”

GOING DEEPER
God is not looking for religious polish; He is forming a holy heart.
Where might concern for appearances, approval, or “doing things right” be hiding a deeper need for conversion?
The Pharisees focus on ritual handwashing—not simple hygiene, but a tradition that had become a public marker of religious seriousness. Jesus does not reject true reverence or the law of God. He exposes the danger of treating external observance as though it were the heart of holiness.
What comes out of us reveals what has taken root within us. Our words at the breakfast table, our tone with a spouse, the way we speak about a difficult child, our impatience in traffic, our private resentments—these are not minor matters. They reveal whether we are allowing Jesus to reign in the hidden places.
The world is very skilled at appearances. We can curate an image, display the right convictions, attend the right events, and still carry bitterness, vanity, contempt, or unforgiveness beneath the surface. But Christ never humiliates us by revealing the heart; He heals us by inviting it into the light. Holiness is not a mask. It is an inner life surrendered to God.
This is where the domestic church becomes so powerful. Our children do not primarily learn faith from the version of us that others see; they learn it from the version they encounter at home. They notice whether we apologize, whether we speak with gentleness, whether prayer changes our responses, and whether Jesus is truly welcome in our ordinary frustrations.
Saint John Vianney spent countless hours in the confessional because he knew that God’s mercy goes straight to the root. He did not offer people mere religious refinement. He led them to repentance, freedom, and friendship with Christ. The same grace is available in our homes when we stop defending our faults and start bringing them to Jesus.
Jesus warns against blind guides because spiritual blindness spreads. But the opposite is also true: humble, repentant, joy-filled faith spreads. A parent who says, “I was wrong; please forgive me,” may teach more about the Gospel than a hundred lectures. Purity of heart produces clarity of sight.
Build saint-forming homes; pray over your children by name; act in the power of the Holy Spirit by asking Jesus to purify what comes from your heart and your home.
A virtue is an habitual and firm disposition to do the good. It allows the person not only to perform good acts, but to give the best of himself. The virtuous person tends toward the good with all his sensory and spiritual powers; he pursues the good and chooses it in concrete actions. (CCC, 1803)

In My Heart: What reaction, attitude, or recurring word reveals an area where I need Jesus’ purification?
In My Home: How can I model humble repentance and mercy more clearly today?
In My World: Where might I be tempted to judge appearances rather than see another person with the compassion of Christ?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around … share one virtue you would like Jesus to strengthen in your heart.
Then pray over each person by name. Ask that each know personally God’s love, be freed from the Enemy’s lies about identity and worth, receive strength to overcome temptation, and be given the grace to speak and act today with the joy and purity of the Gospel.
Daily Challenge: Before bedtime, ask forgiveness from one person if your words today did not reflect the love of Jesus.

LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.
