GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
Your childlike trust opens doors that human strength never can.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Luke 10:21–24
Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said,
“I give you praise, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
for although you have hidden these things
from the wise and the learned
you have revealed them to the childlike.
Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will.
All things have been handed over to me by my Father.
No one knows who the Son is except the Father,
and who the Father is except the Son
and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.”
Turning to the disciples in private he said,
“Blessed are the eyes that see what you see.
For I say to you,
many prophets and kings desired to see what you see,
but did not see it,
and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it.”

GOING DEEPER
The Miracle of a Childlike Heart
This moment in the Gospel is one of the few times we glimpse Jesus “rejoicing in the Holy Spirit.” The Greek word for “rejoiced” (ēgalliasato) describes an overflowing, exuberant joy—almost a leaping of the heart. What moves Him so deeply? A truth that cuts through every age: God reveals Himself most freely to the childlike—not to the self-assured, the clever, or the spiritually accomplished.
To be childlike is not to be childish. It is to live with openness, trust, receptivity, and a heart ready to marvel. Children instinctively know how to receive gifts. Adults often forget. Somewhere along the way, burdens, disappointments, pride, and self-protection crowd out the wonder that once came so naturally.
Jesus is telling His disciples—and us—that the most important realities of the Kingdom cannot be grasped by force or intellect. They must be received, like a child takes the hand of a parent. The great paradox of the Gospel is this:
God cannot fill hands that cling to control, but He joyfully fills hands that open in trust.
This strikes close to home. In family life, we often slide into patterns of self-reliance: carrying everything ourselves, managing outcomes, guarding our hearts against disappointment. Yet Jesus delights in the soul that dares to trust again, hope again, and approach Him without pretense. The childlike heart is not naive; it is surrendered.
Your home becomes a domestic church when it becomes a place where trust replaces cynicism, and wonder replaces weariness. Imagine a family practicing childlike faith together—parents modeling humility; children learning that God speaks personally; spouses choosing vulnerability over guarded independence; everyone watching for signs of God’s goodness in the details of ordinary life.
This is what Jesus calls “blessed”: eyes that recognize God’s presence and ears attuned to His voice. Parents, let your home be a school of childlike trust. Pray over your spouse and children by name, asking the Holy Spirit to soften their hearts, free them from fear, and awaken the joy that comes only from knowing the Father. Let the simple, trusting love of your family amaze the heart of Jesus.
“God’s revelation is realized by deeds and words which are intrinsically bound up with each other.” (CCC 53)

FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around, share one way you want to grow in childlike trust—letting go of fear, control, or heaviness and choosing openness to God.
Then take a moment to pray over each person by name, asking the Holy Spirit to restore wonder, silence the Enemy’s lies, cultivate humility, and fill each heart with joy in the Father’s love.
Daily Challenge: Do one simple act of childlike receptivity today—something that expresses trust in God’s goodness rather than self-reliance.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
