GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
You bear My image—give Me not merely your obedience, but your heart.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Mark 12:13-17
Some Pharisees and Herodians were sent
to Jesus to ensnare him in his speech.
They came and said to him,
“Teacher, we know that you are a truthful man
and that you are not concerned with anyone’s opinion.
You do not regard a person’s status
but teach the way of God in accordance with the truth.
Is it lawful to pay the census tax to Caesar or not?
Should we pay or should we not pay?”
Knowing their hypocrisy he said to them,
“Why are you testing me?
Bring me a denarius to look at.”
They brought one to him and he said to them,
“Whose image and inscription is this?”
They replied to him, “Caesar’s.”
So Jesus said to them,
“Repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar
and to God what belongs to God.”
They were utterly amazed at him.
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
The most important question is not whose image is on your money, but whose image is on you.
What would change in your life today if you truly lived as someone who belongs completely to God?
The Pharisees and Herodians thought they had Jesus trapped. If He supported the tax, He would anger many Jews. If He opposed it, He could be accused of rebellion against Rome. Yet Jesus refuses to play their game. Instead, He redirects the conversation from politics to identity, from taxes to the human heart.
Holding up the denarius, Jesus asks whose image appears on the coin. The answer is obvious: Caesar’s. Therefore, give Caesar what bears Caesar’s image. But then comes the deeper implication. Human beings bear the image of God. The real question is not what belongs to Caesar, but whether we are giving God what already belongs to Him.
The Greek word for image is eikon, from which we derive the word “icon.” In the ancient world, an image signified ownership and authority. Jesus is reminding His listeners that while coins may belong to emperors, our lives belong to the One in whose image we were created. We are not accidents. We are not self-made. We are beloved sons and daughters of God.
This challenges one of the great temptations of our age. We readily give God a portion of our lives while reserving the rest for ourselves. Yet discipleship is not about carving out a religious compartment. Christ desires our marriages, our parenting, our work, our decisions, our wounds, our dreams, and our future. The heart divided becomes the heart diminished.
Today’s martyrs, Saints Marcellinus and Peter, understood this truth. During persecution, they could have protected themselves through compromise. Instead, they remained faithful because they knew whose image they bore. Earthly rulers could demand many things, but their souls belonged to God alone.
The world constantly tries to stamp us with competing identities, but Christ reveals our deepest one. We are His. Build saint-forming homes by reminding one another often of that truth. Pray over your spouse and children by name. Call upon the Holy Spirit daily. Help your family discover that true freedom is not found in belonging to ourselves, but in joyfully belonging to the God whose image we bear.
“The dignity of the human person is rooted in his creation in the image and likeness of God.” (CCC 1700)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: What area of my life am I reluctant to surrender fully to God?
In My Home: How can our family better affirm the God-given dignity and identity of one another?
In My World: How can I help others recognize that they are made in the image of God?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around, share one quality or gift you see in another family member that reflects the image of God.
Then pray over each person by name. Thank God for creating them uniquely and intentionally. Pray that they know they are deeply loved by God, protected from the Enemy’s lies about their identity, strengthened to resist temptation, and empowered to live courageously as disciples of Jesus Christ.
Daily Challenge: Tell three people today one specific way you see God’s goodness reflected in them.
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING

In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
