Do not fear the shaking—I am building something that cannot fall.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Luke 21:5–19
While some people were speaking about
how the temple was adorned with costly stones and votive offerings,
Jesus said, “All that you see here—
the days will come when there will not be left
a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down.”
Then they asked him,
“Teacher, when will this happen?
And what sign will there be when all these things are about to happen?”
He answered,
“See that you not be deceived,
for many will come in my name, saying,
‘I am he,’ and ‘The time has come.’
Do not follow them!
When you hear of wars and insurrections,
do not be terrified; for such things must happen first,
but it will not immediately be the end.”
Then he said to them,
“Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
There will be powerful earthquakes, famines, and plagues
from place to place;
and awesome sights and mighty signs will come from the sky.
“Before all this happens, however,
they will seize and persecute you,
they will hand you over to the synagogues and to prisons,
and they will have you led before kings and governors
because of my name.
It will lead to your giving testimony.
Remember, you are not to prepare your defense beforehand,
for I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking
that all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute.
You will even be handed over by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends,
and they will put some of you to death.
You will be hated by all because of my name,
but not a hair on your head will be destroyed.
By your perseverance you will secure your lives.”

GOING DEEPER
The world shakes so that our hearts will stand on what cannot be moved.
The disciples gaze at the temple—majestic, glittering with marble and gold. It symbolized permanence, the very dwelling of God. But Jesus shatters their illusions: “Not one stone will be left upon another.” In Greek, the word for “temple” (naos) also refers to the inner sanctuary—the holy dwelling place of God. Christ was hinting that His own body, and through Him the Church, would become the true temple. What they revered in stone, He was rebuilding in Spirit.
The rhetorical punch strikes here: what we trust most in this world—our institutions, wealth, comfort, even relationships—can crumble overnight. The question is not if the shaking comes, but where we stand when it does. Jesus doesn’t promise stability in the visible world; He promises security in Himself. “By your perseverance you will secure your lives.” The word hypomonē (perseverance) literally means “to remain under pressure without breaking.” This is the posture of faith: not escaping the storm, but enduring it with God beneath its weight.
Our culture fears collapse—economic, political, personal. Yet Christ teaches that disruption is not destruction for those rooted in Him. What looks like ruin is often God’s renovation. Every shaking exposes what we’ve built on sand and invites us back to the Rock.
Families, your home is a living temple of faith. When life shakes—sickness, conflict, loss—what will hold your house together is not wealth or ease, but prayer and perseverance. Teach your children that courage is not the absence of fear, but faith choosing to stay when everything else tempts you to run.
When the world trembles, remember: the Kingdom that lasts forever has already begun in you.
“The Church will enter the glory of the kingdom only through this final Passover, when she will follow her Lord in his Death and Resurrection.” (CCC 677)

Unshakable Faith: What are the “temples” in my life—things I trust more than God—that He may be calling me to surrender?
Witness Under Pressure: When have I experienced faith being forged not in comfort, but in crisis?
Family Foundation: How can we strengthen our home in prayer and perseverance so we remain steady when life’s storms come?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Gather your family and light a candle. Reflect on one “storm” you’ve faced together and how God was present through it. Then pray over one another by name:
Lord Jesus, be our sure foundation when the world shakes. Strengthen [Name] with courage and peace. Teach our family to trust You more than what we see, to endure with hope, and to rejoice that Your Kingdom cannot be destroyed.

LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.
