GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
Waiting until life settles down? Your place at His table is ready.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Luke 14:15-24
One of those at table with Jesus said to him,
“Blessed is the one who will dine in the Kingdom of God.”
He replied to him,
“A man gave a great dinner to which he invited many.
When the time for the dinner came,
he dispatched his servant to say to those invited,
‘Come, everything is now ready.’
But one by one, they all began to excuse themselves.
The first said to him,
‘I have purchased a field and must go to examine it;
I ask you, consider me excused.’
And another said, ‘I have purchased five yoke of oxen
and am on my way to evaluate them;
I ask you, consider me excused.’
And another said, ‘I have just married a woman,
and therefore I cannot come.’
The servant went and reported this to his master.
Then the master of the house in a rage commanded his servant,
‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town
and bring in here the poor and the crippled, the blind and the lame.’
The servant reported, ‘Sir, your orders have been carried out
and still there is room.’
The master then ordered the servant,
‘Go out to the highways and hedgerows
and make people come in that my home may be filled.
For, I tell you, none of those men who were invited will taste my dinner.’”
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
God invites us to receive His life within the responsibilities we so often use to postpone Him.
What good thing has become your most convincing reason to keep God waiting?
The conversation begins with someone speaking warmly about dining in God’s Kingdom. Jesus answers with a dinner that is ready and guests who decline to attend. The movement is searching: enthusiasm about a future blessing meets resistance to a present invitation. We can sincerely desire heaven while repeatedly postponing the communion with God that begins to prepare us for it.
Notice the reasons the guests offer. Land, working animals, and marriage belong to ordinary human life. The parable does not require scandalous behavior to reveal a disastrous choice. Good things can occupy our attention so completely that we become unavailable to the Giver. The guests have received an invitation, but their response leaves them outside the feast. A full schedule can conceal an unfed soul.
We know how persuasive those explanations can sound within our own minds. Once the project ends, the children settle, or the finances improve, we intend to pray with greater attention. Meanwhile, we live from one demand to the next, drawing little strength from the relationship for which we were created. Christ invites us into participation in God’s life now. We can bring our unfinished responsibilities into His presence and learn to fulfill them in communion with Him.
The invitation then reaches people who might never have expected a place at such a table. Their poverty and infirmities do not disqualify them from the host’s welcome. Today’s Saint Martin de Porres, remembered for his humble care for the poor and sick, helps us consider whether our own welcome reflects that generosity. We can also ask whether we are willing to arrive before God in need, allowing Him to receive the person we actually are.
For us as parents, the home is the domestic church, where accepting the invitation becomes practical. We can protect a few minutes of shared prayer instead of waiting for an unusually peaceful evening. We can prepare for Sunday Mass with the same seriousness we give a school event. At the Eucharist, Jesus gives Himself to us; our response continues in the attention we give our spouse, the patience we offer our children, and the room we make for someone who feels forgotten.
Build saint-forming homes by giving communion with God a real place within your family’s daily life; pray over your spouse and children by name, asking for willing hearts that respond to His invitation; act in the power of the Holy Spirit by setting aside one habitual excuse and keeping a specific appointment with the Lord today.
“The most common yet most hidden temptation is our lack of faith.” (CCC 2732)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: What do my repeated excuses reveal about where I expect to find life and satisfaction?
In My Home: What practical change would help our household give prayer and worship consistent priority?
In My World: Whom could I welcome who might otherwise assume there is no place for them?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around … invite each person to share something that often distracts them from time with God. Choose together a brief, realistic time to pray today.
Then pray over each person by name: “Father, let [Name] personally know the joy of being welcomed by You. Free them from the Enemy’s lies that they must become more impressive before approaching You or that Your invitation can always wait. Strengthen them to overcome temptation, especially distraction, avoidance, and indifference. Holy Spirit, give them gladness in living the Gospel through faithful prayer, generous hospitality, and loving attention to others. Amen.”
Daily Challenge: Keep the prayer time you chose, even if something remains unfinished.
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
