GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
You are invited. My table is set for you—not because you’ve earned it, but because you are loved. Don’t miss the feast for the noise of lesser things.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Luke 14:15–24
One of those at table with Jesus said to him,
“Blessed is the one who will dine in the Kingdom of God.”
He replied to him,
“A man gave a great dinner to which he invited many.
When the time for the dinner came,
he dispatched his servant to say to those invited,
‘Come, everything is now ready.’
But one by one, they all began to excuse themselves.
The first said to him,
‘I have purchased a field and must go to examine it;
I ask you, consider me excused.’
And another said, ‘I have purchased five yoke of oxen
and am on my way to evaluate them;
I ask you, consider me excused.’
And another said, ‘I have just married a woman,
and therefore I cannot come.’
The servant went and reported this to his master.
Then the master of the house in a rage commanded his servant,
‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town
and bring in here the poor and the crippled, the blind and the lame.’
The servant reported, ‘Sir, your orders have been carried out
and still there is room.’
The master then ordered the servant,
‘Go out to the highways and hedgerows
and make people come in that my home may be filled.
For, I tell you, none of those men who were invited will taste my dinner.’”
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
The great tragedy of life is indifference to God’s invitation.
Jesus’ parable cuts straight to the heart of distraction. The feast represents the Kingdom—God’s offer of communion, joy, and eternal life. Yet those first invited, the respectable ones, decline. Their reasons sound reasonable: work, property, marriage—good things that become ultimate things. Each excuse is polite, but deadly. The word “excuse” here (paraiteomai) literally means “to beg off, to refuse with favor.” It’s not anger that closes the door—it’s apathy.
Every soul is invited to the divine banquet, but many are too full to come. In the first century, a feast was more than a meal—it was covenantal participation. To reject the invitation was to reject relationship. Jesus exposes our spiritual clutter: the busy schedules, scrolling, and self-made importance that leave no room for God.
The master’s “rage” is not cruelty—it’s heartbreak. When love is spurned, justice must move. And yet, even in anger, grace overflows. The master flings open the doors to the outcasts—the ones the world doesn’t count. Here lies the scandal of grace: God’s table will be filled, but not necessarily by those who assumed their seat was reserved.
In our homes, this parable calls for repentance of busyness. Families lose sight of the feast when faith becomes one more activity to squeeze in. Parents, you are the servants sent into the streets—summoning your children, neighbors, and friends to the table of mercy. The Eucharist is not a ritual obligation—it is the Father’s love made edible.
The Kingdom is not postponed; it is prepared. The question is not whether you are invited, but whether you’ll come.
“The Church, in her liturgy and in her sacraments, is the banquet of the Lord where the poor, the lame, and the blind are invited.” (CCC 1402)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
The Invitation: What “good” things might be crowding out your response to God’s invitation to deeper relationship?
The Feast: How does your family’s participation in the Eucharist reflect (or fail to reflect) joy in the Lord’s banquet?
The Mission: Who around you may feel uninvited or unworthy—and how can you extend God’s welcome to them this week?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around, share one way each of you has been too “busy” to spend time with God or with one another. Choose one concrete way this week to reclaim the feast—perhaps attending daily Mass, sharing a meal without phones, or praying before bed together.
Then pray over one another by name: Lord Jesus, awaken in [Name] a hunger for Your banquet that no worldly distraction can satisfy. Free [Name] from excuses and fill our family with the joy of Your invitation, that our home may echo the welcome of Heaven.
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
