GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
My word has authority in your house—what I rebuke must leave.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Luke 4:31-37
Jesus went down to Capernaum, a town of Galilee. He taught them on the sabbath, and they were astonished at his teaching because he spoke with authority. In the synagogue there was a man with the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out in a loud voice, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are–the Holy One of God!” Jesus rebuked him and said, “Be quiet! Come out of him!” Then the demon threw the man down in front of them and came out of him without doing him any harm. They were all amazed and said to one another, “What is there about his word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.” And news of him spread everywhere in the surrounding region.

GOING DEEPER
The Holy One still speaks with authority—and what He names must come out.
What unclean word, fear, or influence have we allowed to keep crying out in the holy place of our home?
Jesus moves from Nazareth, where familiarity rejected Him, to Capernaum, where His word astonishes. Luke is careful: they are stunned not first by a miracle, but by teaching that carries exousia—real authority, not borrowed opinion. Then the hidden war becomes visible. An unclean spirit uses a man in the synagogue itself. The Enemy knows Jesus. Recognition is not surrender. The demon shouts theology while still holding the man.
Jesus does not debate. He does not negotiate. He rebukes: “Be quiet! Come out of him!” The Greek epitimaō is the same strong verb used for silencing storms. The spirit throws the man down, then leaves without harm. Authority is not cruelty. It is liberation that refuses to let evil keep speaking.
This is the work of the domestic church. Our homes are meant to be holy ground, yet unclean voices still try to occupy them: accusation, lust, rage, despair, the lie that God is distant. We cannot cast them out with nicer moods. We need the Word spoken with faith—over our spouse, over our children, over the atmosphere of the house.
Parents, build saint-forming homes. Pray over your spouse and children by name. Act in the power of the Holy Spirit, and let the authority of Jesus silence what does not belong.
“The coming of God’s kingdom means the defeat of Satan’s: ‘If it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.’ Jesus’ exorcisms free some individuals from the domination of demons. They anticipate Jesus’ great victory over ‘the ruler of this world.’” (CCC 550)

In My Heart: Where have I let an unclean voice keep speaking instead of commanding it, in Christ, to be quiet?
In My Home: What word of Jesus needs to be spoken aloud over our household today?
In My World: Whom around me needs to encounter not my opinion, but the authority of Christ’s word?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around …
Name one “voice” that does not belong in your home. Then pray over your spouse and each person by name, asking the Father to deepen their personal knowledge of His love, free them from every lie of the Enemy, strengthen them against temptation, and fill them with joyful, concrete living of the Gospel.

Speak one Scripture verse aloud over your home today with simple, confident faith.

LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.
