INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Luke 8:19-21
The mother of Jesus and his brothers came to him
but were unable to join him because of the crowd.
He was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside
and they wish to see you.”
He said to them in reply, “My mother and my brothers
are those who hear the word of God and act on it.”

GOING DEEPER
Blood can bring you to the door. Only obedience brings you into the household of Jesus.
Beloved, have you been standing near the holy things—and still remaining outside?
The scene is almost painful. His mother and His brothers want to see Him. The crowd is in the way. Someone announces the family waiting outside. Jesus does not deny Mary. Luke has already shown her as the woman who heard the Word and said yes. He widens the house. Kinship with Him is not a private circle of those who knew Him first. It is hearing and doing—akouontes kai poiountes. In Scripture, to hear is never only to register sound. To hear is to receive in such a way that life changes course.
This is mercy for every home that loves Jesus and still lives beside His Word instead of under it. You can be in the building and outside the belonging. You can admire the crowd around Him and never act. He is not pushing Mary away. He is pulling you in—on the same terms by which she is already His: a heart that hears, and a life that obeys.
Parents, build saint-forming homes. Pray over your spouse and children by name. Act in the power of the Holy Spirit by doing one word of God today that you have only been standing near.
“The Virgin Mary most perfectly embodies the obedience of faith. By faith Mary welcomes the tidings and promise brought by the angel Gabriel, believing that ‘with God nothing will be impossible’ and so giving her assent: ‘Behold I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.’” (CCC 148)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: Where am I near Jesus in interest, but still outside in obedience?
In My Home: What word of God have we heard often and not yet acted on together?
In My World: Whom could I treat as family today because they are doing the Father’s will?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around …
Name one word of God you will not only hear but do this week. Then pray over your spouse and each person by name, asking the Father to deepen their personal knowledge of His love, free them from every lie of the Enemy, strengthen them against temptation, and fill them with joyful, concrete living of the Gospel.
Daily Challenge:
Take one command of Jesus you already know and obey it in a visible way before nightfall.

LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.
