INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Matthew 18:15-20
Jesus said to his disciples:
“If your brother sins against you,
go and tell him his fault between you and him alone.
If he listens to you, you have won over your brother.
If he does not listen,
take one or two others along with you,
so that every fact may be established
on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
If he refuses to listen to them, tell the Church.
If he refuses to listen even to the Church,
then treat him as you would a Gentile or a tax collector.
Amen, I say to you,
whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven,
and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Again, amen, I say to you, if two of you agree on earth
about anything for which they are to pray,
it shall be granted to them by my heavenly Father.
For where two or three are gathered together in my name,
there am I in the midst of them.”

GOING DEEPER
Love does not avoid the wound or expose the person; love courageously seeks to win back the brother or sister.
Is there a relationship in your life that needs a prayerful, truthful, and charitable first step toward healing?
Jesus gives His disciples a path for dealing with sin and conflict, and it begins privately: “between you and him alone.” In a first-century honor-and-shame culture, public exposure could devastate a person’s standing. Jesus protects the dignity of the one who has sinned even as He takes sin seriously. The goal is never humiliation. The goal is restoration: “you have won over your brother.”
That is a needed word for our homes. When someone wounds us, we may retreat into coldness, speak to everyone but them, rehearse the offense, or let resentment quietly reshape the household. But the domestic church cannot flourish on avoidance. Love speaks the truth—not to vent, control, or score points, but to call the other back into communion.
This demands wisdom. Not every disagreement is a sin, and not every difficult conversation should be rushed. We begin with prayer, humility, and an honest examination of our own heart. Then, when the moment is right, we speak directly, gently, and specifically. Truth without love can crush; love without truth can drift. In Christ, truth and mercy meet.
Jesus’ instruction to involve others and, finally, the Church reveals that we are not meant to carry grave relational wounds alone. The Church is not a distant institution imposed on personal life. She is the family Christ gives us, a communion entrusted with binding, loosing, reconciling, and praying in His Name. When we seek healing in the way of Jesus, Heaven itself is at work.
And what does it mean to treat someone as a Gentile or tax collector? Look at Jesus. He does not despise or abandon them; He pursues them. He eats with tax collectors, calls them by name, and invites them into a new life. Necessary boundaries may remain, but contempt has no place in the heart of a disciple. The person who resists reconciliation must still be held in prayerful, patient love.
Saint Jane Frances de Chantal knew profound loss and suffering, yet chose a life rooted in mercy, prayer, and service. With Saint Francis de Sales, she founded the Visitation Order, whose spirituality was marked by humility and gentle charity. Her witness reminds us that holiness is not avoiding pain; it is allowing Christ to transform pain into patient, forgiving love.
Build saint-forming homes; pray over your children by name; act in the power of the Holy Spirit by taking one humble, truthful step toward reconciliation today.
In imparting to his apostles his own power to forgive sins the Lord also gives them the authority to reconcile sinners with the Church. This ecclesial dimension of their task is expressed most notably in Christ’s solemn words to Simon Peter: “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” “The office of binding and loosing which was given to Peter was also assigned to the college of the apostles united to its head.” (CCC, 1444)

In My Heart: Is there resentment, fear, or pride keeping me from seeking reconciliation in the way of Jesus?
In My Home: What would it look like to address a difficult matter directly, gently, and without shaming anyone?
In My World: How can I become a person who helps restore communion rather than spread division?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around … share one quality that helps a family work through conflict well: humility, courage, listening, patience, forgiveness, or honesty.
Then pray over each person by name. Ask that each one know personally God’s love, be freed from every lie of the Enemy that says division is permanent, receive strength to overcome temptation, and be given joy and courage to live the Gospel through merciful truth-telling and forgiveness.
Daily Challenge: Take one direct, kind, prayerful step today toward healing a relationship rather than avoiding it.

LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.
