GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
Come to Me with the heart of a child. Lay aside your pride, your self-sufficiency, and your fear, and I will reveal to you the joy of truly knowing Me.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Matthew 11:25-27
At that time Jesus exclaimed:
“I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
for although you have hidden these things
from the wise and the learned
you have revealed them to the childlike.
Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will.
All things have been handed over to me by my Father.
No one knows the Son except the Father,
and no one knows the Father except the Son
and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.”
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
The greatest obstacle to knowing God is not ignorance. It is the illusion that we no longer need to be taught.
Where has self-reliance quietly replaced childlike dependence upon God?
Jesus offers a surprising prayer of praise. He thanks the Father not for revealing Himself first to the influential, accomplished, or intellectually impressive, but to “the childlike.” The Greek word, nēpioi, literally refers to little children—those who know they are dependent, receptive, and unable to provide for themselves. Christ is not rejecting learning or scholarship. The Church has given the world some of its greatest minds. Rather, He is revealing that no amount of intelligence can substitute for humility. God is not discovered merely through analysis. He is received through relationship.
This reveals one of the great paradoxes of the spiritual life: the more mature we become in Christ, the more childlike we become before the Father. Pride says, “I’ve got this.” Faith says, “Father, I need You.” Pride seeks control. Love seeks communion. Every saint eventually discovers that holiness is less about becoming impressive and more about becoming increasingly available to grace.
Jesus then speaks words that stand at the very center of Christianity: “No one knows the Father except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal Him.” The word “know” here is far richer than intellectual awareness. In the biblical sense, to know is to enter into intimate communion. Eternal life is not merely learning truths about God. It is participating in the very relationship the Son eternally shares with the Father through the Holy Spirit. This is why the Church speaks of the Christian life as divinization—being drawn into the life of the Blessed Trinity itself (cf. CCC 460). We were not created merely to admire God from a distance, but to live in Him and He in us.
This truth quietly exposes one of the greatest temptations of modern life. We have unprecedented access to information while often neglecting transformation. We can read books, listen to podcasts, attend conferences, and consume endless Catholic content, yet never slow down enough to simply remain with Christ. Knowledge that does not lead to prayer eventually inflates the ego. Knowledge received within prayer becomes wisdom.
This begins in the home. Parents naturally want to teach their children many things, but the greatest lesson is helping them discover that they have a Father in heaven who delights in them. Build saint-forming homes where wonder is cultivated alongside learning, where questions are welcomed, where humility is modeled, and where prayer becomes as natural as conversation. Pray over your spouse and children by name. Call daily upon the Holy Spirit. Let your children see that no matter how much we learn, we never outgrow our need to kneel before the Father as beloved sons and daughters.
The saints did not become holy because they mastered God. They became holy because they allowed themselves to be mastered by His love. The doorway into the deepest mysteries of heaven has always been remarkably small: the humble, trusting heart of a child.
“Only a humble and trusting heart can enter the Kingdom: ‘Let the children come to me; do not hinder them.’” (CCC 526)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: Where is pride or self-sufficiency preventing me from depending more completely on God?
In My Home: How can our family grow in humility, wonder, and a deeper life of prayer together?
In My World: How can I help someone encounter not merely information about God, but a relationship with Him?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Gather together and invite each family member to share one thing they are grateful God has taught them this year.
Then pray over each person by name. Thank the Father for His love, ask Jesus to draw your family more deeply into His relationship with the Father, and invite the Holy Spirit to form in each of you the humble, trusting heart of a child.
Daily Challenge: Before beginning any important task today, simply pray: “Father, I cannot do this without You.”
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
