GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
Come to Me with the heart of a child. Lay aside your pride, your self-sufficiency, and your fear, and I will reveal to you the joy of truly knowing Me.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Matthew 11:25-27
At that time Jesus exclaimed:
“I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
for although you have hidden these things
from the wise and the learned
you have revealed them to the childlike.
Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will.
All things have been handed over to me by my Father.
No one knows the Son except the Father,
and no one knows the Father except the Son
and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.”
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
The highest knowledge is not mastering God. It is allowing ourselves to be mastered by His love.
Have I become more informed about God...or more transformed by Him?
Jesus offers a surprising prayer of praise. He thanks the Father not for revealing Himself first to the influential, accomplished, or intellectually impressive, but to “the childlike.” The Greek word, nēpioi, literally refers to little children—those who know they are dependent, receptive, and unable to provide for themselves. Christ is not rejecting learning or scholarship. The Church has produced some of history’s greatest philosophers, scientists, artists, and theologians. Rather, He reveals that no amount of brilliance can substitute for humility. God is not conquered by the intellect. He is received by the heart.
How fitting, then, that today the Church honors St. Bonaventure, Bishop and Doctor of the Church. One of the greatest theological minds in Christian history, Bonaventure devoted his life to studying the deepest mysteries of God. Yet the summit of his masterpiece, The Journey of the Mind into God, is not an intellectual conclusion but loving union. He understood that the farther reason travels, the more profoundly it bows. True wisdom culminates not in argument, but in adoration. The greatest theologian is ultimately the greatest lover.
Jesus then speaks words that stand at the very center of Christianity: “No one knows the Father except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal Him.” In Scripture, “to know” is never merely to possess information. It means intimate communion. Christianity is not primarily a philosophy to master or even a religion to practice. It is participation in the eternal relationship between the Father and the Son through the Holy Spirit. This is the astonishing destiny of every baptized person—to share in the very life of the Blessed Trinity. Every doctrine, every sacrament, every commandment exists to draw us into that communion.
Perhaps one of the greatest temptations of our age is confusing information with formation. We have instant access to Scripture, podcasts, homilies, books, and endless Catholic content, yet we can remain impatient, anxious, unforgiving, or spiritually distracted. We may know about Christ without truly abiding in Christ. Knowledge detached from prayer inflates the ego. Knowledge received on our knees becomes wisdom. The saints remind us that holiness is measured not by how much truth we can explain, but by how completely Truth has transformed us.
This begins within the home. Parents naturally desire to educate their children, but their first vocation is to help them know the Father. Build saint-forming homes where wonder is cultivated alongside learning, where questions are welcomed, where humility is modeled, and where prayer is as natural as conversation. Pray over your spouse and children by name. Call daily upon the Holy Spirit. Let your children discover that the wisest person in the room is often the one who most joyfully acknowledges his dependence upon God.
The world needs brilliant minds. But even more, it needs holy ones. Like St. Bonaventure, may we never separate truth from love, knowledge from prayer, or learning from holiness. For in the end, the greatest minds are not those that merely understand God—they are those who have allowed themselves to be completely possessed by Him.
“The desire for God is written in the human heart, because man is created by God and for God; and God never ceases to draw man to Himself.” (CCC 27)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: Am I pursuing a deeper relationship with God—or merely accumulating more knowledge about Him?
In My Home: How can our family cultivate greater humility, wonder, and prayer in everyday life?
In My World: How can I help someone encounter not merely the truths of the faith, but the Person of Jesus Christ?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Gather together and ask each family member to share one way they have come to know God more personally this year.
Then pray over each person by name. Thank the Father for revealing Himself through His Son. Ask the Holy Spirit to deepen your family’s love for prayer, increase your desire for holiness, and form within each of you the humble, childlike heart that receives every grace with joy.
Daily Challenge: Spend ten quiet minutes today with the Lord before reading or listening to anything else. Simply pray: “Father, teach me to know You by loving You.”
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
