GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
I have chosen you, entrusted you with My life, and sent you into the world. Do not be afraid. I will accomplish through your faithful “yes” what you could never accomplish alone.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Matthew 10:1-7
Jesus summoned his Twelve disciples
and gave them authority over unclean spirits to drive them out
and to cure every disease and every illness.
The names of the Twelve Apostles are these:
first, Simon called Peter, and his brother Andrew;
James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John;
Philip and Bartholomew,
Thomas and Matthew the tax collector;
James, the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddeus;
Simon the Cananean, and Judas Iscariot
who betrayed Jesus.
Jesus sent out these Twelve after instructing them thus,
“Do not go into pagan territory or enter a Samaritan town.
Go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
As you go, make this proclamation: ‘The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.’”
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
Before Jesus asks us to do anything for Him, He first calls us to be with Him—and then sends us forth in His authority.
If someone watched your life today, would they conclude that you are merely a believer...or a disciple who knows he has been sent?
Jesus does something remarkable before the mission ever begins: He calls each apostle by name. Matthew carefully records them one by one—not because they were extraordinary, but because they were ordinary. Fishermen. A tax collector. Zealots. Quiet men history would scarcely remember apart from Christ. Even Judas, who would betray Him, is named. The Gospel reminds us that God’s call is always personal. Before there is a mission, there is relationship. Before there is ministry, there is identity.
Notice also what Jesus gives them: His authority. The New Testament word for authority, exousia, does not simply mean power or influence. It means a delegated authority that belongs to another. The apostles are not sent to promote themselves or create their own message. They are entrusted with Christ’s own authority to continue His saving work. This becomes one of the defining characteristics of the Catholic Church. Christ’s mission did not end with His Ascension; He entrusted it to the apostles and, through apostolic succession, it continues in the life of the Church today.
Only after calling and equipping them does Jesus send them. The order matters. We often reverse it. We ask what God wants us to do before asking who He is inviting us to be. Activity without communion eventually becomes exhaustion. Mission without prayer becomes activism. But when we remain united to Christ, our work becomes participation in His work rather than merely our own.
Jesus’ first instruction is equally revealing: “Go rather to the lost sheep.” The image of the shepherd runs throughout Scripture because sheep cannot safely find their way home alone. Every human heart longs for truth, goodness, beauty, forgiveness, and belonging—even when that longing is buried beneath distraction, sin, or indifference. Evangelization is not imposing something foreign upon people. It is helping them rediscover the One for whom they were created.
This mission begins much closer to home than we often imagine. Before we are called to transform the culture, we are called to shepherd those God has already entrusted to us. Fathers, your children should hear the Gospel first from your life. Mothers, your daily fidelity forms hearts more deeply than you know. Families become missionary not because they have all the answers, but because they continually point one another toward Christ. Build saint-forming homes by praying over your spouse and children by name. Call daily upon the Holy Spirit. The first harvest field God gives most of us is our own household.
Every Christian is living on mission. The only question is whether we know it. Christ has called you by name, entrusted you with His grace, and placed you exactly where you are for a reason. The Kingdom of Heaven is still at hand—not because the world has become easier, but because the King is still sending ordinary people to reveal His extraordinary love.
“The whole Church is apostolic, in that she remains, through the successors of St. Peter and the other apostles, in communion of faith and life with her origin; and in that she is ‘sent out’ into the whole world.” (CCC 863)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: Do I see myself as someone Christ has personally called and sent?
In My Home: How can our family become a more intentional witness of Christ’s love to one another?
In My World: Where is God inviting me to courageously proclaim that “the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand”?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Gather together and have each family member share one gift or strength they believe God has given them to bless others.
Then pray over each person by name. Ask the Holy Spirit to help them discover their unique mission, grow in courage, and faithfully live the vocation God has entrusted to them.
Daily Challenge: Intentionally encourage one person today by reminding them of the gifts you see God developing in their life.
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
