Do not be afraid—nothing will be impossible for Me if you trust My word.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Luke 1:26–38
The angel Gabriel was sent from God
to a town of Galilee called Nazareth,
to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph,
of the house of David,
and the virgin’s name was Mary.
And coming to her, he said,
“Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with you.”
But she was greatly troubled at what was said
and pondered what sort of greeting this might be.
Then the angel said to her,
“Do not be afraid, Mary,
for you have found favor with God.
Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son,
and you shall name him Jesus.
He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High,
and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father,
and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever,
and of his Kingdom there will be no end.”
But Mary said to the angel,
“How can this be,
since I have no relations with a man?”
And the angel said to her in reply,
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you,
and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.
Therefore the child to be born
will be called holy, the Son of God.
And behold, Elizabeth, your relative,
has also conceived a son in her old age,
and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren;
for nothing will be impossible for God.”
Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.
May it be done to me according to your word.”
Then the angel departed from her.
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
Mary’s “yes” to God opens the door for salvation to enter the world.
What might God be asking of you that feels beyond your understanding or comfort?
Today we celebrate the moment when heaven touched earth in a hidden home in Nazareth. The angel Gabriel announces a plan that defies human logic: a virgin will conceive and bear the Son of God. The entire history of salvation hinges on Mary’s response.
The angel greets her with a unique title: “full of grace.” In Greek, kecharitōmenē indicates a completed and ongoing state of grace. Mary is not merely favored for a moment—she has been prepared by God in a singular way for this mission. Her identity is rooted in God’s initiative.
Mary’s initial reaction is important. She is “greatly troubled” and begins to ponder. The Greek word dialogizomai suggests deep interior reasoning. Faith is not blind. Mary engages, questions, and seeks understanding. Her question, “How can this be?” is not doubt—it is openness seeking clarity.
Then comes the heart of the message: “The Holy Spirit will come upon you… nothing will be impossible for God.” This is the same divine power that hovered over the waters at creation. God is about to begin a new creation through Mary’s yes.
Finally, Mary speaks the words that change history: “Let it be done to me according to your word.” This is total surrender. The Greek phrase genoito moi expresses a willing acceptance of God’s plan, regardless of the cost. In that moment, the Word becomes flesh.
This mystery speaks directly into family life. Every home is a place where God desires to act, to create, to bring new life—often in ways we do not expect or fully understand. Like Mary, we are invited to trust before we see the outcome.
The domestic church becomes a place of incarnation when families say yes to God in daily life. Yes to prayer. Yes to forgiveness. Yes to sacrifice. Yes to raising children in truth and love. These hidden acts open space for God’s grace to enter and transform.
Parents, today is a call to radical trust. Ask for the heart of Our Blessed Mother Mary. When God’s plan feels unclear or demanding, choose faith. Speak your yes. Pray over your children by name, asking the Holy Spirit to overshadow their lives and lead them in God’s will. Build a home where surrender to God becomes the pathway to joy and mission.
“The Virgin Mary most perfectly embodies the obedience of faith.” (CCC 148)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: What is God asking me to trust Him with right now, even if I do not fully understand?
In My Home: How can our family grow in saying yes to God’s will together?
In My World: Where might God be inviting me to bring His presence through a simple act of obedience?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around, share one way each person can say “yes” to God this week.
Then pray together as a family. Parents, place your hands gently on each person and pray over them by name. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide their hearts, remove fear, and strengthen their trust in God. Pray that each person will know God’s love personally, be freed from the Enemy’s lies, and live their calling with courage and joy.
Daily Challenge: As a family, say together, “Lord, let it be done according to Your word,” and act on one concrete opportunity to live that yes today.
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
