GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
Remain in Me, and I will bear fruit through you—apart from Me you can do nothing.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | John 15:1-8
Jesus said to his disciples:
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine grower.
He takes away every branch in me that does not bear fruit,
and everyone that does he prunes so that it bears more fruit.
You are already pruned because of the word that I spoke to you.
Remain in me, as I remain in you.
Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its own
unless it remains on the vine,
so neither can you unless you remain in me.
I am the vine, you are the branches.
Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit,
because without me you can do nothing.
Anyone who does not remain in me
will be thrown out like a branch and wither;
people will gather them and throw them into a fire
and they will be burned.
If you remain in me and my words remain in you,
ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you.
By this is my Father glorified,
that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.”
EVERY DAY QUESTION
What struck you? Challenged you? Inspired you? What questions did it raise?
GOING DEEPER
Fruitfulness flows from faithful union.
Where are you striving to produce results—without remaining deeply rooted in Jesus?
Jesus gives us one of the most vivid images in all of Scripture: vine and branches. This is not a casual connection—it is a living, organic union. The Greek word for “remain” is menō, meaning to abide, to dwell, to stay continually. This is not occasional contact—it is constant communion.
And He states it plainly: “Without me you can do nothing.” Not less. Nothing. That confronts our modern mindset of independence and self-sufficiency. We often live as if Jesus is a helpful addition rather than the essential source. But a branch disconnected from the vine doesn’t struggle—it withers. “Disconnected disciples dry up, not rise up.”
Then comes the difficult but necessary truth: pruning. The Father, as the vine grower, cuts back even good branches so they can bear more fruit. In Greek, the word kathairō means to cleanse, to purify. Pruning is not punishment—it is preparation. It may feel like loss, but it is actually love.
This speaks directly into our lives. When something is removed—comfort, control, certain outcomes—we may question God. But what if He is not taking something from us, but making something in us? Greater fruit. Deeper trust. Stronger faith.
In the home, this becomes very real. Parenting and marriage often involve pruning—of selfishness, impatience, pride. The daily demands, interruptions, and sacrifices are not obstacles to holiness—they are the means of it. Our homes become vineyards where God is actively shaping us into fruitful disciples.
And notice the promise: “If you remain in me… ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you.” This is not a blank check for our desires—it is a transformation of them. When we are truly abiding, our hearts align with His. We begin to want what He wants. And those prayers carry power.
So the question is not, “How can I be more productive?” but “How can I be more connected?” The fruit will follow. Love, patience, peace, faithfulness—these are not manufactured; they are manifested through union with Christ.
Today, choose to remain. Not rush. Not perform. Abide. Parents, lead your families into this rhythm. Create space for prayer, Scripture, silence. Pray over your children by name. Let your home be a place where connection to Christ is constant—and watch the fruit grow.
“Christ Jesus always did what was pleasing to the Father, and always lived in perfect communion with him. Likewise Christ’s disciples are invited to live in the sight of the Father ‘who sees in secret,’ in order to become ‘perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.’” (CCC 1693)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: Where am I trying to produce fruit without staying deeply connected to Jesus?
In My Home: How can we build daily habits that help us remain in Christ together?
In My World: What fruit is God calling me to bear through deeper union with Him?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around … share one way you can stay more connected to Jesus throughout the day.
Then pray together as a family. Lay hands on each person and pray over them by name:
“Jesus, You are the vine. Keep [Name] close to You. Help them remain in You in every moment. Prune whatever is not bearing fruit. Strengthen them to trust You, follow You, and live a life that glorifies the Father.”
Pray for a deep awareness of God’s love, freedom from distractions and self-reliance, strength to stay connected to Christ, and joy in bearing fruit that lasts.
Daily Challenge: Take three intentional pauses today to reconnect with Jesus—through prayer, Scripture, or silence.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
